LaMelo Ball is a popular American professional basketball player for the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA. The player broke his right ankle in Monday's win over the Detroit Pistons, the Charlotte Hornets announced. The play came in the 3rd quarter, with the Hornets led by double digits. LaMelo handled the basketball and tried a behind-the-back dribble. He then fell to the ground afterward in pain. The player left the game and did not come back from there.

Lamelo Ball Injury Update

LaMelo seems to suffer a non-contact injury to his right ankle in the 3rd quarter of Charlotte's win over Detroit on February 27. He instantly fell to the floor and then checked out of the game.

LaMelo was seen on the court after the injury. He said, "it popped," about his ankle. 

After the game ended, the Hornets said that he had suffered a fracture in his right ankle. The statement said, "An x-ray taken at the arena revealed the fracture. LaMelo will be listed as out for the Hornets’ next game vs. Phoenix on March 1 and updates regarding his status will be provided as appropriate."

Lamelo Ball Injury

LaMelo left for the locker room after the injury. The X-rays disclosed the fracture that the Hornets informed shortly after the 117-106 victory over the Pistons. They did not provide offer an initial prognosis or timetable for his recovery.

How Long Is Lamelo Ball Out?

The Hornets said LaMelo would be ruled out for the team's game against the Suns on March 1. It is unclear how long he will be sidelined, but it is assumed that he will miss a weighty chunk of time.

Depending on the severity of the fracture, almost all ankle injuries like the one Ball suffered had a recovery time of between 6 weeks and a few months. But, with the Hornets now sitting 14th in the Eastern Conference and well out of the playoff race, it appears very likely the team would shut its star point guard down for the rest of the season.
