This game serves as a direct sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon (2020) and the spin-off title Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name (2023). The narrative revolves around Ichiban Kasuga, the protagonist from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Kazuma Kiryu, the original series protagonist, and unfolds in a new and exotic location: Hawaii, while also revisiting familiar settings in Japan. In this journey, Kasuga and Kiryu collaborate, along with both old and new allies, to help Kasuga find and reunite with his mother in Hawaii. Players can anticipate an exciting and expansive adventure when Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth makes its worldwide debut on January 26, 2024.

Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth Review

"Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth" brings a lot of excitement with its big boss battles and a diverse cast of characters. The game continues the trend started by its predecessor, "Like A Dragon," introducing party-based and turn-based RPG elements. The hands-on preview reveals a massive map in Honolulu City, larger than any seen in previous Yakuza series games.

The game introduces a mix of familiar faces and new characters. Players control Ichiban in Honolulu while Kiryu, a beloved character from the classic series, returns for one last adventure. The party system is expanded, with characters like Saeko, Nanba, and Seong-Hui, now playable. The biggest addition is Dondoko Island, an Animal Crossing-like experience, where players transform an uninhabited island into a resort. With a variety of activities like spear fishing, bug catching, and daily quests, it promises a fresh and engaging gameplay experience.

"Infinite Wealth" also brings quality-of-life improvements, such as marked party side conversations on the map and the addition of the Street Surfer, an electric scooter for convenient travel. The battle system sees enhancements with more freedom of movement during attacks, providing players with better control. Despite the game being set in Honolulu, the developers have maintained the familiar Yakuza vibe, ensuring that it feels like a genuine addition to the series.

Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth Gameplay

In Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, players take on the roles of Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu, along with their party members. They explore the Isezaki Ijincho district in Yokohama and even venture to Honolulu City in Hawaii. The game uses a turn-based combat system for all the characters, and each character can select different "jobs'' or classes that give them unique abilities and styles of play. Kiryu has a special job that allows him to engage in real-time combat, similar to the fighting style in previous Like a Dragon games. The game also brings back the Poundmates summon system, featuring various characters from the series.

In addition to classic mini-games like Karaoke, Darts, and Mahjong, Infinite Wealth introduces new mini-games. There's also a significant side activity called Happy Resort DonDoko Island, where Kasuga manages his resort island, involving tasks like gathering resources, crafting, and social interactions.
