LSG - Lucknow Super Giants
Lucknow Super Giants, an IPL franchise cricket team based in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow, was formed in 2021 and is owned by the RPSG Group. Led by captain KL Rahul and coached by Andy Flower, the team has Gautam Gambhir as its mentor. In their debut season, they qualified for the playoffs. The team is expected to play their home matches at Lucknow's BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, and their principal owner is Sanjeev Goenka. In August 2021, the Indian Premier League's Governing Council invited tenders for two new teams, attracting interest from 22 companies. However, due to the high base price, only six serious bidders came forward. The Board of Control for Cricket in India allowed a consortium of three companies or individuals to bid for each franchise, resulting in Sanjiv Goenka-owned RPSG Group. After launching a competition to decide the team's name, the Lucknow Super Giants were announced in January 2022. The franchise also secured the services of Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi. On 23 March 2022, the team unveiled its jersey for the upcoming season.
