Mandragora

Mandragoras are small plant-like enemies found in Final Fantasy VII's Grasslands. They can blend into the surroundings and often go unnoticed by players. These creatures attack in groups but won't start attacking until the party attacks them first.

When attacked, all Mandragoras will take revenge. They have two main counterattacks: Grass Punch when hit with magic, targeting the character with the lowest MP, and Slow Dance when hit with physical attacks, causing the Slow status on the character with the lowest HP.

Mandragoras are not very strong and can be defeated easily due to their low HP. Using magic against them is not effective as they resist it, so physical attacks work better. You can steal Lasan Nuts from them, which are used to breed Chocobos.

Mandragora Location in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To find a Mandragora easily in Final Fantasy VII, start by going to the fast-travel point near Kalm, which is the Kalm - Air-Raid Shelter. From there, walk along the main path away from Kalm and watch for an Orc standing in the road.

The Mandragora might be nearby, possibly hidden in the grass alongside the road. To engage with the Mandragora, first, attack the Orc to target and deal with it. Since Mandragoras are not very strong enemies, focus on building up your ATB gauge by attacking the Orc before dealing with the Mandragora.

Weakness and Defeating Methods

Mandragora in Final Fantasy VII has two weakness: Ice and Fire attacks.

Exploiting these weaknesses puts pressure on them, making them useful early-game enemies to teach players about pressuring and staggering foes for maximum damage output. When Mandragora sustains enough damage, they will enter a Rest state, during which they regain a substantial amount of HP.

To prevent Mandragora from fully restoring their HP during Rest, players can deal a significant amount of damage to them. This action interrupts their rest, causing them to wake up without restoring any HP. This mechanic encourages players to strategize their attacks to prevent the enemy from recovering too much health.

Despite being lower-level enemies, defeating Mandragora yields valuable crafting materials. Players can obtain Sage by stealing it from Mandragora during combat.
