Who is Carnage?

Carnage is a bad guy in Marvel comics who often fights Spider-Man. It's not just a regular person, though. Carnage is a special kind of creature called a Symbiote that can make its host super strong and give them all kinds of powers.

The most famous person to be Carnage is a really dangerous killer named Cletus Kasady. Carnage is even more powerful than Venom, another famous Symbiote, and has had different people as hosts, like Ben Reilly and Norman Osborn. In the movies, Woody Harrelson played Carnage in "Venom: Let There Be Carnage." Carnage has appeared in comic books, TV shows and video games.

In Marvel's Spider-Man 2, there are sidequests called "The Flame," where Peter Parker helps a character named Yuri Watanabe, also known as Wraith. Yuri is investigating a dangerous cult called The Flame. During these missions, we discover that the leader of the cult is a man named Cletus Cassidy, who is also known as Carnage in the comics.

In one of the final missions, Cletus manages to steal a red symbiote, and he leaves Peter pinned down by a vehicle. Before escaping, he ominously says, "And when the Crimson Hour rolls over this earth, it shall bring truth, judgment, and carnage." Yuri chooses to save Peter from this dangerous situation instead of immediately chasing down Cletus. She mentions that it could take years to track down Cletus by looking into his old aliases.

These sidequests have some surprising plot twists. Yuri has taken on the role of Wraith, a vigilante, to confront The Flame cult, which is causing chaos in New York City. The leader, Cletus Kasady (Carnage), is a notorious serial killer. Carnage is a powerful villain in the Spider-Man universe, often clashing with both Spider-Man and Venom due to his symbiote powers. While we don't see Cletus become Carnage in these quests, it's suggested that his full transformation might be explored in a future Spider-Man game, possibly Spider-Man 3.
