The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is an annual cinematic extravaganza orchestrated by the Metro Manila Development Authority. Spanning from Christmas Day through New Year's Day and into the first weekend of January, the festival is a dedicated showcase for Filipino-produced films.
With a distinctive focus on local cinema, the MMFF's unique feature lies in its exclusion of foreign films during the festival period, making exceptions only for 3D theaters and IMAX venues. Originating in 1975, the MMFF has evolved, expanding its reach nationwide from the 28th edition in 2002.
A notable tradition is the grand parade of floats, symbolizing each film entry, a spectacle that has transitioned to being hosted by local governments since 2017.
