It marks the twentieth installment in the Call of Duty series and serves as the third chapter in the revamped Modern Warfare series. The game, available on platforms such as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, maintains the realistic, modern setting of its predecessors. In addition to its engaging single-player campaign, Modern Warfare III introduces a multiplayer mode with remastered maps from the 2009 release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and includes a Zombies mode, a first for the Modern Warfare series.

Sledgehammer Games initially set out to develop an expansion pack for Modern Warfare II but, as the project progressed, Activision decided to turn it into a standalone entry in the Call of Duty franchise. Leveraging the 9.0 version of the IW engine, Sledgehammer Games crafted the game's mechanics and graphics. Notably, Treyarch, renowned for the Call of Duty: Black Ops series, collaborated in developing the Zombies mode. Following leaks in early-to-mid 2023, the game was officially unveiled in August 2023, with a showcase event and a public beta occurring in October. While some platforms categorize it as a DLC expansion of Modern Warfare II, it doesn't feature a Platinum Trophy on PlayStation 5.

Modern Warfare 3 KATT-AMR Loadout

The KATT-AMR is a powerful new weapon introduced in Modern Warfare 3. It's great for causing serious damage over long distances, but it does have a downside—it's a bit tricky to handle. To make it more manageable, here's the best loadout for this sniper rifle. This loadout focuses on specific attachments to improve the KATT-AMR's handling without sacrificing its long-range prowess. First, the Perdition 24" Short Barrel attachment enhances aiming down sights (ADS), sprint-to-fire speed, and movement speed. This helps when you need to move around with the rifle, making it more flexible.

Another crucial attachment is the Phantom Rear Grip, which further boosts ADS and sprint-to-fire speed. While this improves handling, it slightly affects overall recoil and gun control. However, the increased ease in managing the weapon makes this compromise worth it. The FSS Ole-V Laser attachment plays a vital role in this loadout. It significantly improves aiming stability and also enhances ADS and sprint-to-fire speed. This attachment has the most impact on the weapon's handling and is crucial for making accurate shots with the KATT-AMR.

Additionally, the Precision Stock Pad attachment offers comfort while aiming, resulting in better accuracy and stability when aiming down sights. Lastly, the Requiem-9 Heavy Bolt attachment ensures smoother rechambering, allowing for quicker follow-up shots while staying on target. This optimized loadout transforms the KATT-AMR into a reliable and deadly sniper rifle, especially for long-range engagements. However, it's important to note that this rifle is best suited for more stationary playstyles due to its focus on accuracy and stability over mobility.

Unlocking the KATT-AMR in Modern Warfare 3

In Modern Warfare 3, the KATT-AMR is a new weapon that players can get their hands on. To unlock this sniper rifle, you'll need to reach player level 4. Interestingly, this aligns with the point in the game when the Gunsmith feature becomes accessible. This means that as soon as you've leveled up to 4, you'll also have the ability to explore and modify the KATT-AMR to your liking through the Gunsmith.

To swiftly reach level 4 and unlock this weapon, diving into a few multiplayer matches or briefly exploring the Zombies mode can expedite your progress. Once you've attained level 4, you can immediately start tweaking and customizing the KATT-AMR to suit your preferred style of play, making it a lethal choice in your arsenal.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Plot

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III's campaign story takes place after the events of Modern Warfare II. It features fictional locations like Verdansk, Kastovia, and Urzikstan. The main villain is Ultranationalist terrorist Vladimir Makarov. Task Force 141, led by characters like Captain John Price, Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley, Sergeant Kyle "Gaz" Garrick, and Sergeant John "Soap" MacTavish, are the main heroes. Players will also take on roles in Makarov's private military company, Konni Group.

The Zombies story happened in Urzikstan in 2021, after the events of Modern Warfare (2019) and almost 40 years after Black Ops Cold War. It includes characters like Victor Zakhaev, a Russian arms dealer, and Sergei Ravenov, a former Spetsnaz captain with experience in dealing with zombies. New characters are introduced too, like Jack Fletcher from the private military company Terminus Outcomes, and Selma Greene, who leads Operation Deadbolt, a CIA plan formed after the Cold War outbreak.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Gameplay

Modern Warfare III will play a lot like its predecessor and other Call of Duty games. It brings back features like slide canceling. The campaign offers both linear missions and 'Open Combat Missions,' giving players more freedom in how they tackle objectives. In multiplayer, there will be all sixteen maps from Modern Warfare 2 at launch. Players can vote for maps in lobbies, and there will be a bit more health for a longer time to kill. The 'red dot' minimap is back, allowing players to spot enemies on their radar when they shoot without a suppressor. Classic modes like 'Kill Confirmed' and 'Hardpoint' are returning, along with a new mode called 'Cutthroat.' Ground War and War mode are making a comeback too.

The game will also have a new open-world PvE Zombies mode. Developed by Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games, it's different from the old round-based survival style. Up to 24 players will team up on a big map called Urzikstan. They'll face off against zombies and AI-controlled enemies, completing objectives, collecting loot, and extracting items. Instead of rounds, the map is divided into 'zones' with varying difficulty levels. After 45 minutes, an 'Aether Storm' starts, giving players 15 minutes to get out with their loot. This can be carried into the next match. It includes familiar elements like weapon purchases, special drinks, and mystery boxes. Story quests will also be part of the mode, advancing the narrative.
