In Modern Warfare 3 Zombies, the story begins with a guy named Viktor Zakhaev, who is a bad guy involved in selling weapons. He finds two containers of a mysterious substance. When the police try to stop him, a fight breaks out. In a desperate move, Zakhaev breaks one of the containers, and a strange purple smoke turns everyone in the area into zombies.
A mission called "Operation Deadbolt" is given to teams to stop Zakhaev and a shady military group called Terminus Outcomes. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III's gameplay, it's similar to the previous Modern Warfare II and other games in the series.
