Monster Hunter Now

"Monster Hunter Now" is a cool mobile game that came out on September 14, 2023. You play it on your phone, and it's part of the Monster Hunter series. What's cool about this game is that it uses something called augmented reality, which means it mixes the game with the real world around you. Niantic and Capcom worked together to make this game happen, and Niantic, the company behind Pokémon Go, put it out for everyone to play.

In this game, you get to explore and fight monsters in different places, like forests, swamps, and deserts. You can tap on the monsters to start fights, and the big fights last for about 75 seconds. That's way shorter than in other Monster Hunter games! There are lots of things to do, like collecting stuff to make armor and weapons. Even when you're not playing, the game gives you some things to help out later. It's been super popular, with 10 million installs all over the world after it came out.

Monster Hunter Now Update V68.1 Patch Notes

The new update for Monster Hunter Now, called v68.1, has just been released, and Niantic fixed and changed a bunch of things. They also tweaked how the camera works and where your Hunter starts when fighting monsters.

Main features adjusted or changed

  • Tappable area for Hunt-a-thon Points has been reduced, making it easier to access other objects when Hunt-a-thon Points are nearby.
  • Appearance of Hunt-a-thon Points has been changed, distinguishing whether a hunter is within or outside the accessible range of a Hunt-a-thon.
  • Order of equipment/materials has been adjusted to match the order in the Monster Guide.
  • Names of the Item Box Expansions in the Shop have been changed for each price range. "Item Box Expansion 2" can be purchased after all the "Item Box Expansion 1" items have been purchased.
  • Your camera zoom position is now saved. Hunting Screen and Main Menu will be set to the last saved camera zoom position.
  • Starting position of hunters at the beginning of a hunt has been adjusted. Hunters will now start a hunt at a fixed distance from a Large monster.

Fixed Issues

  • Group Hunt may not start, and the app controles become unresponsive.
  • Hunt-a-thon: Joining the fifth monster from the Main Screen with only a few seconds left on the time limit may softlock the app. (Updated on Jan 9th to replace the redundant text)
  • The damage boost associated with a sleep state does not take effect when the monster is airborne.
  • Hunter's poisoned status may not be canceled by hunter down.

Improvements in Monster Hunter Now Update V68.1

The newest update for Monster Hunter Now, called V68.1, brings in some neat improvements to make the game better. One cool thing they did is making it easier to find other things when you're near Hunt-a-thon Points. They made the area you can tap on smaller, so you can access nearby stuff more easily. Also, they changed how these points look, so you can tell if you're close enough to use them or not.

They also fixed some other stuff to make the game smoother. Now, your equipment and materials show up in the same order as the Monster Guide, which makes it easier to find what you need. In the shop where you buy things, they changed the names of the items that make your item box bigger, so it's clearer which one you're getting. Your camera now stays in the zoom position you last set, which means you won't have to adjust it every time you start the game. And when you start a hunt, your hunter will always begin at a set distance from the big monsters.

Monster Hunter Now Gameplay

In Monster Hunter Now, you get to use your real-life location to put your own character on a map that's split into different areas like forests, swamps, and deserts. You can tap on small and big monsters on the map to start fighting them, but big monster battles only last 75 seconds. Unlike the longer fights in other Monster Hunter games, smaller monsters take just a few seconds to beat. You can also collect resources on the map to make armor and weapons. There are items you can buy to make your character reach farther in the game, and even when you're not playing, the game gives you some resources and marks big monsters for you to fight later.

Monster Hunter Now Development

Creating Monster Hunter Now began in 2019 when Niantic opened an office in Tokyo. They talked to Capcom, the folks behind Monster Hunter, to use its characters and stuff in their games. Capcom was excited about putting Monster Hunter on mobile phones, so they quickly said yes. Niantic's boss mentioned that because our phones got better since they made Pokémon Go, they could make this new game with faster fights and more people playing together.

Everyone found out about Monster Hunter Now on April 18, 2023, and a small group of people got to test it in a closed beta starting just a week later. The game didn't come out to everyone right away, though. First, on August 9, 2023, it was available for some people to try early, and then on September 14 of that same year, everyone could play it.
