Monster Hunter Rise
Capcom's Monster Hunter Rise is an action role-playing game designed for the Nintendo Switch platform. It builds on the success of its predecessor, Monster Hunter: World, while introducing new gameplay elements and mechanics. The game's central premise revolves around hunting down monsters and collecting their resources to create better equipment and armor.
One of the game's most significant additions is the introduction of Palamutes, which are animal companions that can be used for transportation or to assist in battles. Players can ride Palamutes across the game's expansive maps or use them in combat to perform special attacks. Another new feature is the use of Wirebugs, which enable players to climb walls and traverse through the air to mount and ride certain monsters.
The game offers both single-player and multiplayer modes. In the single-player campaign, players can have up to two companion creatures accompany them on hunts, choosing between Palicos and Palamutes. The multiplayer mode supports up to four players, and they can choose between either the Palico or Palamute companions.
Monster Hunter Rise has been well-received by critics, with praise for its gameplay and the expansion of mechanics introduced in World. Its success is reflected in its sales figures, with over 12 million copies sold worldwide since its release. The Sunbreak expansion pack, released in June 2022, adds new content such as monsters and locales to the game.
It also introduces the Switch Skills Swap feature, which allows players to switch between two different skill sets in the middle of a hunt without having to return to a base camp. This feature adds a new layer of strategy to the game and enhances the player's experience.
