Mxpx History
MxPx, an American punk rock band, began its journey in 1992 when three teenagers from Bremerton, Washington - Mike Herrera, Yuri Ruley, and Andy Husted - started playing music together in Herrera's backyard. Originally named "Magnified Plaid" due to Husted's fondness for plaid shirts, the name was shortened to "M.P." for practicality on posters. The band's early years were closely tied to Tooth & Nail Records, where they released their debut album "Pokinatcha" in 1994, blending Christian punk with elements of hardcore and skate punk.
With guitarist Andy Husted's departure and Tom Wisniewski's arrival, MxPx continued to make music. They signed with A&M Records in 1997, releasing successful albums like "Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo" and "The Ever Passing Moment." They gained recognition with hits such as "Responsibility" and performed at the Vans Warped Tour.
Over the years, MxPx switched record labels, released albums like "Panic," and ventured into independent endeavors. They maintained a strong connection with their fan base, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, with online events, live albums, and new releases.
