My Perfect Stranger Episode 15 Recap & Ending Explained
In Episode 15 of My Perfect Stranger, the story takes us back in time as we follow Yeon-woo, who is revealed to be the mastermind behind everything. It is unveiled that he wrote the matchbox notes, and killed Beom-ryong, and the other girls.
Later, we see Yeon-woo chasing Hae-joon outside the tunnel, brutally attacking him and leaving him battered. Yoon-young senses something amiss and encounters Mi-sook at the entrance of the house. Mi-sook reveals that the culprit is Yeon-woo, prompting Yoon-young and Detective Baek to rush to the tunnel and save Hae-joon from further harm.
Yeon-woo is subsequently arrested, and an investigation is conducted at the Director's residence. Yoon is shocked by Hae-joon's condition and visits him in the hospital while the search for evidence continues. The investigators discover that Yeon-woo had lied about his return dates to town, as evidenced by his passport stamps. However, they lack concrete evidence to proceed with the investigation.
Chung-a returns to town with a box of letters written by Yeon-woo while she was in America. The handwriting in these letters is different from his usual handwriting, specifically altered for Chung-a. Although she was initially fond of this change, recognizing the matchbox handwriting made her realize it was Yeon-woo. However, she chose to remain silent out of concern for her child's safety.
Hae-joon regains consciousness in the hospital and remembers instances where his grandfather recognized Yeon-woo's handwriting and displayed anger towards him. Hae-joon hastily leaves the hospital to confront Yeon-woo.
Upon arriving, Hae-joon finds Yoon burning all the letters outside and deciding to cover up the evidence. Hae-joon is shocked by his grandfather's actions and confronts him, highlighting the bleak future that awaits them as a result. Yoon breaks down in tears, while Hae-joon takes the final letter and hurries to the station to submit it as evidence.
This leads to Yeon-woo's incrimination, and the attention shifts to Hae-joon and Yoon-young. They debate when to leave and return home. Hae-joon advises Yoon-young to say her goodbyes, and she visits the music store with Yoon-young, using her money to purchase a guitar for Hae-seob.
Yoon-young advises Hae-seob to treat Soon-ae well and do everything he can to stay with her. Their farewell is bittersweet, providing closure as Yoon-young forgives her father and wishes him a happier and better life going forward.
At the station, Hae-joon interrogates Yeon-woo about the murders and his motives. It is revealed that Yeon-woo found Hae-joon's office, including details about the murders and various related documents. Yeon-woo broke into the office, found the manual for the time travel car, and even smashed the glass to gain access.
Hae-joon questions Yeon-woo's feelings for Chung-a, and Yeon-woo admits his love for her. However, his issues stem from his mother, who never showed him affection and abandoned him at the age of 7. This traumatic experience pushed him over the edge and drove him to commit murder. He was triggered by anyone well-read as it reminded him of his mother, which explains his attraction to Chung-a, who was an orphan and desired a family.

What Happens at the End of Perfect Strangers?
In the previous episode, it was revealed that Yeon-Woo, the father of Hae-Joon, is the true culprit behind the killings. Shockingly, Hae-Joon had even trusted him and invited him to his house to repair the time machine. However, Hae-Joon realizes Yeon-Woo's whereabouts and confronts him near the tunnel. Unlike Yoon-Young's experience in the first episode, this time they do not both time-travel.
Instead, Yeon-Woo strikes Hae-Joon with his car and brutally beats him. Fortunately, Yoon-Young arrives at Woojung-ri and alerts Detective Baek, who rushes to the scene. Yoon-Young, having learned the truth from Mi-Sook, now knows the identity of the killer. Detective Baek shoots Yeon-Woo in the hand to prevent him from further harming Hae-Joon with a rock. Yeon-Woo is subsequently arrested, and Yoon-Young takes Hae-Joon to the hospital.
Hae-Joon remains unconscious for a while, causing great concern for Yoon-Young. She empathizes with his immense fear and sadness resulting from these horrifying events. Meanwhile, Principal Yoon is taken aback when Detective Baek and the police search his house for evidence. It is revealed that the murders occurred prior to Yeon-Woo's return to Korea, as evidenced by his passport.
However, Yeon-Woo has skillfully concealed any incriminating evidence, leaving no trace that could prove him guilty. As Hae-Joon regains consciousness, his first act is to apologize to Yoon-Young for having a father who inflicted tremendous harm on her family. Yoon-Young assures him that he bears no responsibility for his father's actions and that he himself has suffered greatly as a result. Furthermore, even the handwriting on the letters does not match Yeon-Woo's.
Chung-A brings some letters written by Yeon-Woo to Hae-Joon's grandfather. She explains that Yeon-Woo used a special handwriting specifically for their correspondence, believing it to be a sign of their special connection. When the matchboxes were found at the crime scenes and traced back to her cafe, the police questioned Chung-A about them. At the time, she lied to them because she had just discovered her pregnancy.
Yoon-Young, eager to assist in any way she can, approaches Detective Baek and offers her help. Considering that Chung-A is missing, Yoon-Young suggests that she may have gone to her grandfather's bus terminal. Although her grandfather is unaware of Chung-A's final destination, Yoon-Young was able to provide him comfort after the apprehension of the culprit.
Interestingly, Yoon-Young's grandfather does not blame the principal for having a son like Yeon-Woo; instead, he wonders how such a kind person ended up with a son like him. In such circumstances, it is typically the parent who receives criticism.
In another scene, Hae-Joon recollects a childhood memory in which Yeon-Woo sent him a letter, only to have his grandfather immediately discard it. This indicates that his grandfather was aware of Yeon-Woo's actions but chose to protect him. Hae-Joon hurries to Principal Yoon's house and discovers him burning Chung-A's letters. Fortunately, he manages to salvage some letters before they turn to ashes.
He confronts his grandfather, stating that even if he were to save Yeon-Woo, Hae-Joon would never have the dream life Principal Yoon envisioned for him. Burning the letters or preventing Yeon-Woo's arrest would not alter Hae-Joon's future. Principal Yoon breaks down, and Hae-Joon departs
