Night Swim
"Night Swim" is a supernatural horror movie that centers on the Waller family. After moving into a new house, they quickly discover something eerie lurking in their backyard swimming pool. The presence haunting the pool is something unknown and supernatural, creating a sense of fear and mystery for the family. Directed by Bryce McGuire in his debut, the film stars Wyatt Russell, Kerry Condon, Amélie Hoeferle, and Gavin Warren as the members of the haunted family. The storyline revolves around this family's unsettling experience with the malevolent force residing in their pool.
Produced by James Wan's Atomic Monster and Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions after their recent merger, "Night Swim" is the first collaboration between these production companies since their union at the start of 2024. It's a significant release marking their combined efforts in the horror genre. The film captivates audiences with its portrayal of a seemingly ordinary setting, a backyard pool, turned into a source of supernatural terror for a family settling into their new home.
Night Swim Ending Explained
In the ending of 'Night Swim,' Ray, affected by the pool's dark force, undergoes a transformation, becoming increasingly unstable. He attacks Izzy while Eve, realizing she must save her son Elliot, jumps into the pool's depths. Elliot, marked as the chosen sacrifice, is helped by the ghost of Rebecca, a previous victim of the pool. Together, they manage to escape the pool's grasp.
Ray, still under the pool's influence, assaults the family but is momentarily subdued by Izzy. In a selfless act, Ray sacrifices himself to expel the demonic force from his body, freeing his family. The film closes with heartfelt home videos where Ray expresses concerns about their future. Despite filling the pool with dirt to suppress its powers, the Waller family opts to stay, ensuring the evil doesn't resurface, honoring Ray's sacrifice. Although 'Night Swim' doesn't hint at a sequel directly, the potential of a possessed pool storyline could lead to future installments, especially considering the collaboration between Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, leaving room for a possible franchise.

Night Swim Plot
"Night Swim" tells the story of the Waller family, who move to a new home in the suburbs because Ray, the father, can't play baseball anymore due to an illness called multiple sclerosis. They find a house with a pool that seems perfect. Ray starts swimming in the pool for therapy, but strange things begin happening. He becomes obsessed with fixing the pool and getting better, forgetting about his family's needs. The pool affects each family member differently: his daughter Izzy almost drowns, his wife Eve sees scary things while swimming, and his son Elliot is lured into the deep end.
As the story unfolds, they discover eerie occurrences tied to the pool, like mysterious figures and strange liquids. They realize the pool might be cursed and linked to past disappearances. Eve finds out that the pool demands a human sacrifice and that Ray is somehow possessed by the pool's evil. But it's about Ray's fear of not being able to support his family anymore because of his illness, leading him to do risky things and putting his family in danger. The movie shows how obsession and fear can affect a family.
