GENERAL UPDATES

HERO MASTERY MODE

  • Completing a hero mastery course in the gold bonus tier will now grant a bonus score based on how fast you completed the course. This bonus score is granted based on the time differential down to the nearest tenth of a second between your time and gold bonus tier. This new bonus time can be viewed in the finish line bonus tooltip on the course summary screen. This change affects all Hero Mastery courses played going forward and should allow the global leaderboards for each course to be more competitive.

Overwatch 2 Game Info

Overwatch 2 is a video game created by Blizzard Entertainment. It's a follow-up to the original "Overwatch" game and was first available for early access play on October 4, 2022. The official release came on August 10, 2023. It belongs to the first-person shooter genre and can be played on various platforms like Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Unlike its predecessor, Overwatch 2 is free to play, and it changed how players obtain in-game items, moving away from loot boxes to a battle pass system and an in-game store. The game also features cross-platform progression, meaning you can carry your progress and cosmetics between different devices.

Overwatch 2 Gameplay

Overwatch 2 is a game where players pick from a roster of 35 characters, each with unique abilities. These characters are grouped into damage dealers, support heroes, and tank heroes. The game focuses mainly on player-versus-player (PvP) combat across various modes and maps.

One significant change is that teams now consist of five players instead of six to speed up the game and make it less complicated. Maps were designed with more cover to balance the reduced number of tank heroes. Additionally, damaged heroes move faster, support heroes slowly regenerate health, and tank heroes can be more offensive.

The game introduces a new PvP mode called "Push," where teams compete to move a robot to the opponent's side of the map. Certain older maps are no longer part of the standard modes but can still be played in custom games. Overwatch 2 also offers a ping system for better teamwork. Cosmetics can be obtained through the battle pass system, and new heroes are rewarded through the free tier of the battle pass.

Overwatch 2 Plot

Overwatch 2 continues the story from the original game, advancing the lore and narrative. The game introduced story-based PvE missions starting in Season 6, released in August 2023. These missions help tell the story of the Overwatch universe and require players to complete various objectives.

The game also introduced Hero Mastery missions for specific heroes to help players improve their skills with those characters. These missions are part of the game's ongoing narrative and gameplay updates, providing players with more ways to experience the Overwatch world and characters.
