Overwatch 2

"Overwatch 2" is a popular first-person shooter game made by Blizzard Entertainment. It's the sequel to the original game, "Overwatch," and it was released in 2022. The game was supposed to have both player-vs-player (PvP) and cooperative modes, but in 2023, Blizzard decided to focus more on the PvP part and scrapped the cooperative plans. In the game, teams used to have six players, but they reduced it to five, making it more challenging.

Some of the main characters in the game underwent significant changes. The best part is that "Overwatch 2" is free to play on various gaming platforms like Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Also, players from different platforms can play together. The game's early access phase started on October 4, 2023, and Blizzard officially launched it on August 10, 2023, with the release of the sixth season.

Overwatch 2 Gameplay

"Overwatch 2" is a hero-based shooter game where players pick from a roster of 35 unique characters, split into three categories: "damage" for offense, "support" for healing and boosting, and "tank" for creating space on the battlefield. Each character has their own set of abilities, including active, passive, and ultimate skills. The game is mainly about player-vs-player (PvP) combat in various modes and maps.

The big change from the original game is that now teams have five players instead of six, with one less tank. This was done to make the game faster and simpler both for players and spectators. The new maps offer more cover options since there are fewer tank heroes to provide protection. Damage heroes move faster, support heroes regenerate health over time, and tank heroes can be more offensive.

"Overwatch 2" also introduces a new PvP mode called "Push," where teams compete to control a robot pushing a payload. This mode replaces the Assault mode in the Overwatch League. Some old maps have been removed from the main game due to balance issues but can still be played in custom games or arcade modes. Unlike its predecessor, "Overwatch 2" is free to play and uses a battle pass system for cosmetics.

It requires a Blizzard Battle.net account and features cross-progression across PCs and consoles. The game has started adding story-based PvE missions, and there are plans for more in the future. Additionally, Hero Mastery missions help players improve their skills with specific characters. These missions are available during certain seasons or can be purchased separately.
