At the end of the movie "Personal Shopper," Maureen visits her boyfriend in Oman and experiences the glass-smashing trick again, performed by the ghost. She communicates with the ghost through a series of questions and knocks but starts to doubt whether it's actually her brother. She then asks if it's Lewis or herself, and receives one knock as a response. This brings a half-smile to her face and the movie ends with a bright white screen.

The story of "Personal Shopper" centers around Maureen Cartwright, a personal shopper for the famous supermodel Kyra Gellman in Paris. However, Maureen's life is not entirely ordinary, as she is waiting for a sign from her twin brother, Lewis, who recently passed away from a genetic heart condition. They made a pact before his death that he would send a signal from the afterlife, and Maureen is hoping to receive it while staying at Lewis's house. During her stay, Maureen encounters a spiritual presence, which she finds both unnerving and fascinating. Later, she meets with a couple who are interested in buying Lewis's house, and they mention an artist named Hilma af Klint, whose paintings were inspired by messages from the spirit world.
As the story unfolds, Maureen begins receiving text messages from an unknown sender, who encourages her to indulge in forbidden desires, such as wearing Kyra's clothes. Maureen visits Kyra's apartment and tries on her clothes, and even masturbates in Kyra's bed, which seems to fulfill the desires of the mysterious texter. However, Maureen is terrorized by a malevolent female specter that appears to be haunting her. The story takes a darker turn when Kyra is found dead in her apartment, and Maureen is interrogated by the police about her relationship with Kyra.
Despite telling the police that she left Kyra's jewelry at her apartment, Maureen discovers the jewelry in her own apartment, which raises suspicion. The identity of the mysterious texter is revealed, and the murderer is eventually uncovered to be Ingo, Kyra's lover. Throughout the story, Maureen experiences supernatural events, and even when she travels to Oman to stay with her boyfriend, Gary, she continues to have encounters with the spirit world.
