Platonic Episode 7 Recap & Ending Explained

In the previous episode of Platonic, Will decided to end his relationship with Peyton, although the breakup affected him more than it did her. Meanwhile, Will had a heated argument with his best friend Sylvia, as he believed they had a deep connection that was not reciprocated. However, their friendship was further complicated by the fact that Sylvia was now working as Peyton's babysitter. Despite the breakup, Peyton's employment with Sylvia seemed secure.

Moving on to Sylvia's first day as an associate at her new job, it got off to a rocky start when her son Simon accidentally spilled milk on her new suit. Nevertheless, Sylvia was proud of her achievement and shared the news with her best friend Katie. However, Charlie, Sylvia's husband, expressed concern about her working with younger colleagues, thanks to some advice from his friend Stewart, who acted as a reality check for him.

Sylvia tackled her new role with enthusiasm, but she faced the challenge of interacting with unfamiliar people. She struggled to find the right balance between friendliness and professionalism. Later, during her busy day, she accidentally damaged a portrait of Kirk Friedkin, the company's owner. Although she managed to prevent a colleague from noticing, she realized she needed help to fix the torn portrait. Will was the only person she could turn to in this situation.

Meanwhile, Will shared his new beer creation with his business partners, Reggie and Andy, who enjoyed it. However, the beer was expensive to produce and not profitable, causing a disagreement between Will and Reggie. Will saw the beer as a way to elevate the bar's standards, while Reggie prioritized financial success. Their differences in approach threatened their partnership, but they all genuinely cared about the bar's success.

To resolve the portrait issue, Will reached out to his ex-wife Audrey, who worked as an art consultant. They were attempting to rebuild their relationship, but Audrey had moved on and was successful in her own right. With Audrey's help, Sylvia managed to convince an art restorer named Gregory, who happened to be Audrey's friend, to fix the damaged portrait.

Unbeknownst to Will, Reggie organized a party at the bar without his knowledge. Audrey, who was Reggie's stepsister, informed Will about the event. It became evident that Reggie had purposefully kept Will away from the bar to ensure his own plans went smoothly.

Will and Sylvia arrived at the bar, where they encountered Peyton, who was now working as a waitress. Peyton revealed that she had quit her babysitting job, implying that Sylvia had not fired her. Additionally, Katie, who was dating Andy, had not informed Sylvia about their relationship, possibly indicating a shift in their friendship dynamics due to Sylvia's new lifestyle.

Both Will and Sylvia felt upset, with Will carrying a heavier burden of stress. However, Sylvia took matters into her own hands and reported a fake gas leak to halt the party. This provided her with a sense of satisfaction, as her labor was not being exploited for Reggie's event.

As for the damaged portrait, Sylvia and Will visited Gregory, but he made the situation worse with his artistic interpretation, creating a bizarre image that resembled a Proboscis Monkey in a suit. With no way to fix it further, Sylvia had to accept the altered portrait. However, she managed to hide it from Kirk the next day.

Unfortunately, CCTV footage captured Sylvia damaging the portrait, and she was confronted by Jessica from HR. Sylvia initially apologized, but Jessica eventually informed her that she was fired. Sylvia struggled to process the news and left her office in a state of shock.
