Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch in 2022, are the first games in the ninth generation of the Pokémon video game series. Set in the Paldea region, inspired by the Iberian Peninsula, they feature an open-world environment, three separate stories to complete, and the introduction of 110 new Pokémon and two new regional forms.

The games also include Paradox Pokémon and the Terastal phenomenon, allowing Pokémon to transform into their exclusive "Tera Type." Plot and Story

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet take place in the Paldea region, which is loosely based on the Iberian Peninsula. The region offers diverse landscapes, including lakes, wastelands, and mountain ranges, with the Great Crater of Paldea at its center, formed by a meteorite strike. Inside the Crater lies Area Zero, where the Terastalization phenomenon was first discovered. The region is divided into 20 areas, each with unique Pokémon species.

The player attends either the Naranja (Scarlet) or Uva (Violet) Academy and participates in the annual "Treasure Hunt" to explore the region. After encountering legendary Pokémon Koraidon or Miraidon, who assists the player despite being unable to battle, the player embarks on three stories: Victory Road, Starfall Street, and Path of Legends.

In Victory Road, the player aims to become Champion by defeating the region's Pokémon Gyms and facing the Elite Four and Champion Geeta. In Starfall Street, the player helps Penny confront Team Star, a group responsible for academy bullying, to disband them by defeating their squad bosses. In the Path of Legends, the player teams up with Arven to obtain the Herba Mystica and defeat Titan Pokémon.

Later, the player, Arven, Nemona, and Penny head to the Zero Lab in Area Zero to confront Paradox Pokémon. They discover that the true professor has died, and an AI substitute maintains a time machine to retrieve Paradox Pokémon. The player battles the AI to shut down the time machine, causing the AI to travel to an alternate time to destroy it.

After returning to the academy, a Pokémon battling tournament is organized between faculty and students, with the player emerging as the tournament's victor.
