Resident Evil 4 Remake
In "Resident Evil 4," much of the original dialogue remains intact but has been revised to give more depth to the characters, particularly Ashley, who is no longer subjected to sexual harassment. This installment in the series takes Leon to a new, rich setting and moves away from the villainous Umbrella Corporation, demonstrating the franchise's potential while shifting from horror to action. Despite still requiring players to search for supplies, the game strikes a balance between survival horror and intense combat with more explosive encounters than its predecessors. However, the heavy focus on action arguably detracted from the subsequent games, which returned to more atmospheric horror in the seventh and eighth installments.

Escape From the Village
After narrowly escaping the previous attack, it's important to take a moment to prepare before heading down the path. This includes reloading weapons, crafting ammo, and healing up. Fortunately, the Merchant and a Typewriter are nearby to store any excess weapons or items. Be sure to search both inside and outside of the building for crates containing useful items such as Rifle and Shotgun Ammo. The Merchant has some new items for this chapter, including the powerful Riot Shotgun. Additionally, consider repairing your Combat Knife and grabbing the nearby File for important information about the upcoming challenges.
The Checkpoint Entrance
As you progress through the next area in Resident Evil 4, you'll find yourself in a narrow canyon that requires stealth to navigate through undetected. If a Ganado spots you, an alarm will sound, and more enemies will swarm toward you, making it challenging to progress. However, you can eliminate the four Ganado on the lookout silently by stabbing them in the back or sniping them with a rifle. As you move forward, you can find loot in several small alcoves and open shacks along with bear traps, which can hinder your progress if you're not careful. Leaving the canyon behind, you'll head towards a large checkpoint area beyond a quarry, where you'll encounter a Ganado hiding inside a shack, who will sprout tentacles when defeated. Be sure to have your shotgun ready to blast his head off.
The Checkpoint
As you arrive in the new area, you should be wary of the massive defensive structure that appears to be mostly deserted. There are only two patrolling enemies to deal with, so take them out quietly. While you can leave the scattered items for later, it's better to start stockpiling now. Look for ammo and herbs around the area, and take note of the path along the upper right under the wooden walkway. After checking the north balcony, drop down to the first floor of the large building and grab the First Aid Spray. Prepare yourself for a fight with two Chainsaw Sisters by grabbing the Crank Handle and finding Ashley a hiding place. When the fight begins, use grenades and mines to deal damage, and blast your enemies with a shotgun or submachine gun. Take advantage of the walkways to corral and pick off enemies, and look for opportunities to use Molotovs or Flash Grenades. When the playing field is narrowed down to the Chainsaw Sisters, lure them into the hanging lantern to light them on fire. Once they're defeated, loot the area and use the Checkpoint Crank to open the path forward. Before leaving, be sure to break all the barrels and grab any available ammo
Flee From the Villagers
Once you pass through the gate, be prepared for a challenging encounter that requires speed and accuracy. Stick close to Ashley and use the TMP or shotgun to take down enemies quickly. If you have a Flash Grenade, use it to buy yourself some time if the "Big Cheese" gets too close. Look out for explosive barrels and use them to your advantage. Once you've made it through, you'll come across a slaughterhouse where you can sell items and prepare for the upcoming fight. Don't forget to grab a Red Herb before heading inside and get ready for a showdown. Consider bringing the Rocket Launcher, but keep in mind its cost and limited ammo.
Boss Fight - Bitores Mendez
During the epic battle with Bitores in a cramped space, you have the option to fight on the ground floor or the second-floor using ladders. It is important to stay mobile and use grenades while staying close to Bitores to keep him off-balance. Try to avoid getting too close to him, as he has different moves that can be hard to avoid, such as swiping with his scorpion-like appendages and grabbing you. Be cautious of his spinning tornado move and use a ladder to get to the second floor. On the second floor, be prepared for his sweeping attacks and singular strikes, which you can dodge by pressing the crouch button. When enough damage has been done to Bitores, he will fall to the ground, exposing his giant eye on his back. Use your rifle to deal increased damage or stab him with your knife. After enough damage, he will shed his legs and use his appendages to swing across the rafters, attacking you upfront and retreating to throw flaming wreckage at you from afar. His attacks can be dodged or avoided, and you can retaliate with your weapons after each of his attacks. By repeating these patterns, you can defeat him.
Escape the Village
As you proceed forward, there's only one path to follow, and Ashley must stay with you. Before progressing further, make sure you check your ammo and health status. As you continue, a massive castle will come into sight. Upon crossing the bridge, the castle will tower behind you, providing a barrier from any potential threats but also leading you into the unknown depths of this enigmatic location. To survive, you must press on deeper into this mysterious place, as the chapter draws to a close.
Resident Evil 4 Gameplay
The 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4 aims to bring the iconic game to a new generation of gamers while retaining the spirit of the original. The gameplay features "over-the-shoulder" third-person shooter gameplay, similar to the original, while also incorporating design elements from the remakes of Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil 3 (2020).
