Remnant 2 Tips and Tricks

Listed below are some tips and tricks in Remnant 2 that will help you progress faster in the game.

Stick with a Single Set of Weapons

While it might be tempting to use every weapon you come across, it's essential to stick to just one set during your initial campaign run. This is because Scrap and upgrade materials are quite scarce.

Scrap serves as the main currency in the game, used for purchasing and upgrading items. Improving weapons can be very expensive, and it's crucial to be as strong as possible when you reach the final stages of your first campaign. Aim to have at least one preferred Long Gun upgraded to +15 by the end of the third world to make the final act more manageable.

Obtain More Scrap

In this version of Remnant, Scrap is given in lower quantities compared to the first game. One of the best ways to get more Scrap is by hunting chests, most of which are now visible on the 3D map. You'll know you're near a hidden chest when you hear a shimmering noise. Another way to obtain Scrap is by breaking prop items like barrels and vases continuously. Use a wide-swinging melee weapon like the Greatsword or roll through them to break them apart.

Utilize Mutators

Armor sets in Remnant 2 no longer have unique bonuses. Instead, these bonuses have been moved to Mutators, special items that can be equipped in any of your weapons. These Mutators are quite useful early on but truly shine when fully upgraded. Upgrade your Mutators by visiting Dwell in front of the shooting range in Ward 13. Keep in mind that upgrading them requires a considerable amount of resources, so make sure you're well-prepared.

How to Backstep

Backstepping is a defensive maneuver that's faster than a normal dodge roll. It's excellent for avoiding combo attacks and navigating in tight spaces. To perform a backstep, simply press the dodge button without any movement inputs. You can follow up a backstep with a regular or charged melee attack. Each melee weapon in the game has a unique lunging move tied to this mechanic, while some weapons have special attacks that can only be executed after a backstep.

Dealing with Armored Targets

Armored enemies take significantly reduced damage from physical attacks. If you notice gray damage numbers, you can either shoot different parts of an enemy's body, consistently shoot the armor to break it or switch to a weapon that deals elemental damage.

Even a regular gun with Hot Shot or Acid Shot mods can make quick work of an armored enemy. Damage-over-time effects like Bleeding and Burning are also effective against armored foes. Guns or mods that apply the Corroded status can effectively negate armor protection as well.

Equip Relic Fragments

You can enhance your stats by equipping Relic Fragments into your equipped Relic. Open the Inventory screen, inspect a Relic, and hover over the empty fragment slots to see your options. Relic Fragments offer stat boosts categorized into offensive, defensive, and utility bonuses. You can get higher-quality fragments by playing in harder difficulties, with Regal-tier fragments dropping on Apocalypse mode.

Swap Archetypes for Faster Leveling

Once you reach level 10 on a main archetype, consider swapping it out for your chosen secondary archetype to level it up faster. The equipped main archetype seems to receive more XP than the secondary one, so there's no reason not to do this except for missing out on one archetype's Prime Perk.

To use a second archetype, you'll need to spend at least 10 Trait Points in total. Additionally, find or purchase specific class-related items and unlock them by speaking with Wally at Ward 13.
