Rough Diamonds Ending Explained
At the end of the first season of Rough Diamonds, Noah finds himself in a compromising situation. In order to protect his family and save himself, he gives up Kerra's location in London, knowing that she has her share of the stolen diamonds.
Kerra is arrested, and the police are able to recover the diamonds from both Antwerp and London. However, this act of betrayal may come back to haunt Noah in the upcoming season.
It is unclear whether Noah also gave up Matthias' name, or if Kerra revealed it during the investigation, but Matthias ultimately becomes a state witness. This decision leads to his tragic end as he is shot down by the Albanian Mafia. Meanwhile, Jo agrees to the settlement with the Wolfsons, which saves their family from the impending trial.
However, Noah's actions have opened up a whole new set of problems that he will have to face in the next season. As the news of the recovered diamonds spreads, Noah finds himself in the crosshairs of the Albanian Mafia, who are now aware of his involvement in the heist.
Noah will have to find a way to protect himself and his family while navigating the dangerous underworld of the diamond business.
Rough Diamonds Plot
Rough Diamonds follows the story of Noah Wolfson, a diamond dealer in the heart of Antwerp's diamond district. Noah and his family are facing financial troubles due to a downturn in the diamond business, and he becomes desperate to find a way out.
Noah gets involved in a risky diamond heist with the help of a French thief named Gillaume, but things go awry when Gillaume demands a larger share of the diamonds. A fight breaks out, and Guillaume falls to his death. Noah rushes back to his office, and the next day, Gillaume's body is discovered, along with the stolen diamonds.
Noah devises a plan to avoid going to prison by offering to lead the prosecutor, Jo Smets, to the place where the Albanians keep the money and the stolen diamonds in exchange for a settlement. However, Jo refuses, still determined to win the case in court.
Meanwhile, Benny Feldman, a former employee of the Wolfsons, has agreed to testify against them. The Wolfsons attempt to reconcile with him, but he refuses, leading them to resort to blackmail through a recording of a conversation about rumors concerning Benny's son's sexuality.
Jo Smets ultimately agrees to the settlement, which saves the Wolfson family, but Noah's actions have opened a can of worms that will come back to haunt him in Season 2. The stolen diamonds are recovered, but Matthias, the accomplice who turned state witness, is shot down by the Albanian Mafia.
The season ends with Noah facing the consequences of his actions, including the potential downfall of his family's diamond business.

Rough Diamonds Review
At first glance, Rough Diamonds appears to be a thriller focused on a man's efforts to uncover smuggling and gambling activities that could jeopardize his family. However, the underlying themes of family and religion add complexity to the story and raise the stakes for the protagonist, Noah.
Although it is unclear why Noah left the ultra-Orthodox sect in Antwerp, his frustration with his family's prioritization of its reputation over its members is evident. Additionally, his abilities to confront the bookie Yanki owed money to suggest that he is more than just a shipping supervisor, and his intriguing backstory holds promise for further exploration as he attempts to save his family's business.
The potential for exploration of Noah's insider/outsider status with the closed-off family and society is heightened by his recital of the Mourner's Kaddish at Yanki's gravesite. Although he seems reluctant to return to the ultra-Orthodox sect, there is a part of him that remains connected to it, and it will be interesting to see how this dynamic plays out in the story.
