In the town of Oceanside, Ruby Gillman, a 16-year-old kraken girl, tries to fit in with humans. Her mom, Agatha, doesn't want her to go to prom on a ship because it's in the ocean. Ruby's friends convince her to ask her crush, Connor, but she accidentally knocks him into the water.
She saves him, but a new girl, Chelsea, takes the credit. Ruby discovers she's a kraken and accidentally wrecks the library.
