Rye Lane Plot

In South London, Yas finds Dom crying in a bathroom at an art exhibition. They meet again and bond over their shared connection. Dom was cheated on by his girlfriend Gia with his best friend Eric and moved back in with his parents. Yas poses as Dom's new lover when they meet Gia and Eric at a restaurant, leaving Gia confused.

They have lunch together and Yas reveals she broke up with her boyfriend Jules because he didn't wave at tourists on boats. They decide to steal her record back from Jules's flat. They visit Jules's mother's house to get the key, but Dom gets caught searching through a drawer and they leave empty-handed. Yas admits she started hanging out with Dom out of pity but grew to enjoy their time together.

They go to a karaoke bar to get Jules's key and sing a song together. Yas kisses Dom afterward. Breaking into Jules's flat, they find Jules with his new girlfriend. They accidentally break Jules's art and Yas learns Jules was the one who broke up with her, upsetting Dom. They fight and Yas throws away her record.

Months pass, and they go on dates with other people but can't forget each other. Yas gets a job as a costume designer on a film set while Dom moves out of his parents' house. Dom receives a call from Yas while attending Nathan's next art exhibition. Yas waves to Dom from a boat on the River Thames, and they passionately embrace and kiss when they finally meet.
