Salvation

Salvation is an American television series that made its debut on July 12, 2017. The show was renewed by CBS for a second season consisting of 13 episodes, and it premiered on June 25, 2018. Unfortunately, on November 20, 2018, CBS decided to cancel the series after its second season.

The reason behind the decision could have been ratings-related. At the heart of the series lies the revelation of an asteroid hurtling towards Earth with a devastating impact predicted to occur a mere six months in the future. The narrative places a significant emphasis on the collective efforts made to avert this impending disaster, exploring the intricate web of endeavors undertaken on a global scale.

The Story is focused on an MIT graduate student Liam Cole and Tech genius Darius Tanz. Since they don’t want to panic the public, they present the evidence to a Press Secretary, Grace Barrows that an asteroid will crash into the Earth.

Grace will try to figure out a solution to overcome the difficult situation. In the meanwhile, Liam’s life becomes harder for keeping this secret. It not only affects him but also his close surroundings. The Deputy Secretary of Defense will be running a secret operation to deflect the asteroid. How they overcome this hurdle and save living kind will be the rest of the story.

Salvation Ending Explained

MIT graduate Liam Cole joins forces with billionaire scientist Darius Tanz to address an impending asteroid threat. They uncover a government conspiracy to keep the asteroid's existence hidden and implement a failed plan. Darius formulates his own strategy, garnering support from Pentagon press secretary Grace Barrows. As events unfold, Liam switches his allegiance to Darius, and together, they navigate various challenges.

Amidst investigations, arrests, and the pursuit of a viable solution, they encounter both allies and adversaries. Eventually, they find themselves embroiled in a high-stakes diplomatic mission in Russia. Back in the US, Harris Edwards, Deputy Secretary of Defense and Grace's romantic partner becomes entangled in the evolving crisis. The story further encompasses power struggles, personal conflicts, and the revelation of hidden agendas.

Ultimately, Darius assumes the role of President, facing both internal and external threats. Amidst tensions and betrayals, the group works to prevent catastrophe and reclaim control over their own destinies. Alycia is identified by the FBI while in disguise. Darius ensures Jillian's safety, causing her to become upset with Liam. Zoe returns from Africa, and Liam and Darius prepare for the solar sail launch. Grace receives a threatening call regarding Zoe's life, prompting Alonzo to offer protection.

Darius orders the capture of Nicholas. After Grace's father is attacked and stabbed while in prison, she takes immediate action to ensure his safety. She arranges a flight for her father and Zoe, who is pregnant with Dylan's child, to leave the country. Meanwhile, Alycia becomes involved in supporting Darius and Liam in their solar sail project. Additionally, Nicholas is apprehended by authorities at the airport, while Jillian decides to move out of Grace's house.

During this eventful period, Grace also makes a significant discovery about Zoe's pregnancy, further adding to the unfolding drama. Jillian and Zoe go missing, and Alonzo searches for them. Grace informs Harris about Zoe's pregnancy. The solar sail launch is successful, and Darius announces it publicly. Jillian takes Zoe to COPE and provides information about Darius' railgun project to Bass Shepherd, the leader of COPE.

During Darius' press conference, a COPE reporter commits suicide. An investigation uncovers COPE's weapon purchases. Grace convinces Alycia to find Bass Shepherd using her connections in RE/SYST. Alonzo receives a tip about a COPE location and enters the house, where Nora shoots him. Harris confirms Jillian and Zoe's presence but finds Bass gone. The FBI raids the house, with Grace and Harris in pursuit. Grace, aided by Jillian, locates Zoe and Alonzo and rescues them.

Harris, accompanied by the FBI, launches a raid on the house, aiming to apprehend Nora and rescue Jillian. However, Nora manages to escape with Jillian. In the midst of these events, Darius becomes aware of an imminent attack on the railgun and quickly instructs Dr. Rosetta Stendahl to deactivate the system and evacuate for safety. Nate sabotages the control room, infects the computer, destroys the railgun, and sacrifices himself and Dr. Stendahl.

The railgun is destroyed, sparking riots. Darius resigns as president and plans to crash Salvation into the object. Bass Shepherd abducts Jillian, accusing her of ruining the railgun. Harris and Grace struggle to secure a bunker but learn of a potential opportunity to save Grace and Zoe. Darius trades with Nicholas for his meteorite in exchange for the EM drives. Issues with the railgun slugs make crashing the object uncertain.

Nicholas kidnaps Darius instead of meeting him, while Jillian escapes and contacts Liam before her phone dies upon witnessing Darius with Nicholas. Harris prepares to launch a nuclear missile as a last resort, but an injured Darius convinces him to halt the launch. Darius reveals to Harris that the object is not an asteroid, prompting him to abort the launch just in time. The object comes to a stop and hovers between Earth and the Moon.
