Scream

"Scream" is a scary movie from 2022 made in America. It's the fifth film in the Scream series and a direct follow-up to "Scream 4" from 2011. Even though it's part of the series, this movie wasn't directed by Wes Craven, who directed the earlier ones. Instead, it's dedicated to Craven, shown at the start of the ending credits.

The cast includes many actors like Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, and Jenna Ortega. Some actors from the previous movies, like Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell, also come back. The story happens 25 years after the first movie, with a new killer going after teenagers connected to the original murders.

After "Scream 4" came out in 2011, people talked about making more movies. But there were worries about how well the fourth one did and other problems, especially after Harvey Weinstein's issues in 2017.

However, in 2019, Spyglass Media Group got the rights to the Scream series and said they'd make a new movie. Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original movies, came back as an executive producer and said it wouldn't be a complete restart.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directed the movie, and they filmed it in North Carolina in 2020. "Scream" came out in the United States on January 14, 2022, thanks to Paramount Pictures. Critics liked how the movie was directed and the actors' performances, especially Neve Campbell, who came back to play her character.

They also appreciated the tribute to Wes Craven. The movie made a lot of money, over $138 million, even though it only cost $24 million to make. Another movie, "Scream VI," came out in March 2023, keeping the story going from where the fifth one ended.

Scream Plot

The plot of the movie "Scream" takes place 25 years after a series of murders in Woodsboro. Tara Carpenter, a high school student, gets attacked by a killer known as Ghostface and ends up in the hospital.

Her older sister, Sam Carpenter, comes back to town with her boyfriend, Richie, to visit Tara. They meet Tara's friends, including Wes, Amber, Chad, Mindy, and Liv. That same night, Ghostface kills Liv's ex-boyfriend, who happens to be related to one of the original killers.

Sam reveals to Tara that she's been seeing hallucinations of Billy, who is actually her biological father. This revelation caused problems in their family, leading Sam to become distant from Tara.

To stop Ghostface, Sam and Richie seek help from Dewey Riley, who contacts Gale Weathers and Sidney Prescott. They realize Ghostface is targeting Tara and her friends, trying to connect them to the past murders.

After Ghostface kills more people, including Wes and the sheriff, Dewey reunites with Gale to save Tara and her friends. Sidney joins them to confront Ghostface at Stu's old house, where a party is happening.

They discover that the killers are actually Amber and Richie, who are obsessed with the original murders and want to create new material for horror films.

In the end, Sam fights back against Amber and Richie, ultimately defeating them. Tara also helps by taking down Amber. The survivors are taken to the hospital, and Sam decides to stay with Tara. Gale decides not to write a new book about the murders, and the movie ends with a news report covering the night's events.
