What is Shrek Super Slam?

Shrek SuperSlam is a fighting video game that features characters from the popular Shrek film series. Developed by Shaba Games and published by Activision, it was released in the autumn of 2005 for multiple gaming platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Nintendo DS, and Game Boy Advance. A Microsoft Windows version was also made available shortly after the initial release. The game allows up to four players to engage in battles, utilizing a diverse roster of characters from the first two Shrek films, as well as original characters such as Luna the witch, the Black Knight, Quasimodo, and Humpty Dumpty, the latter of whom later appeared in the standalone Puss in Boots film in 2011.

The central plot of the game revolves around Shrek and his friends' efforts to assist Donkey in putting the Dronkeys to sleep so they can watch Survivor: Sherwood Forest together at the Dragon's Keep. However, a mishap occurs when one of the Dronkeys accidentally destroys the family's storybook. In response, the group takes turns crafting their own stories. After sharing enough stories, the Dronkeys eventually fall asleep, only to be abruptly awakened when Shrek reprimands the game's announcer for excessive talking during the epilogue.

It is important to note that Shrek SuperSlam combines elements of fighting gameplay with a whimsical narrative inspired by the beloved Shrek film franchise. Players engage in battles and progress through the game by exploring various storylines and experiencing the humorous interactions between the characters.

Shrek Super Slam Gameplay

The game incorporates three multiplayer modes: "Melee," "King of the Hill," and "Slammageddon."

In the "Melee" mode, the objective is to accumulate as many slam points as possible within a two-minute timeframe. To initiate an attack, a word bank labeled "Slam" fills up gradually. Once the bank is full, the player can unleash a powerful Slam Attack that can strike multiple opponents simultaneously. Each opponent successfully hit by the Slam Attack grants the player a Slam Point, while being slammed by another player results in the loss of one Slam Point. At the end of the time limit, the player with the highest number of slam points emerges as the winner.

In the "King of the Hill" mode, the aim is to maintain control of a designated hill for the longest duration, while opponents attempt to knock each other off. The first player to accumulate 30 points through hill control attains victory. The player earns points based on the length of time they manage to stay on the hill, with longer durations resulting in higher point rewards.

In the "Slammageddon" mode, every individual attack executed by a player is counted as a Slam.

Each character possesses a unique "Slam" attack with distinct effects and range. For instance, Shrek's "Green Storm" attack releases a gust of flatulence at close range, sending opponents flying. Robin Hood's "Arrow Swarm" involves commanding his band of Merry Men to shower the battlefield with a deluge of arrows from above. Another example is Pinocchio's "Buzz Bomber," where his nose extends and propels him across the arena, targeting opponents. Fiona Ogre utilizes "Ogre Aria" to unleash floating projectile singing notes, blasting her enemies.
