Tyler was charged with Negligent Homicide and was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.

The incident occurred on February 3 at approximately 10:51 p.m. when two Shreveport Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Villa Norte Apartment Complex in the 1600 block of Fullerton Street. Upon arrival, the officers made contact with Bagley, who then exited the apartment over the balcony. Police claim that Tyler chased Bagley and made contact with him when he rounded the corner of the building, firing one shot that hit Bagley in the chest.
Bagley was taken to Ochsner LSU Health and was pronounced dead at approximately 11:30 p.m. The family of Bagley has hired an attorney, Ron Haley, who stated that "Alonzo was just so, so scared. Everyone at the scene, including the perpetrator Alexander Tyler, knew Mr. Bagley should not have been shot that night."
