Sicario 2 Ending explained

The initial ‘Sicario’ film was quite straightforward in its messaging. It tackled the legality and morality of war and the often impulsive foreign policy approach towards it. Its sequel, ‘Soldado,’ follows a similar vein. At the conclusion of the movie, the characters find themselves torn between two different objectives, perspectives, and moral codes. To save Isabel's life, Alejandro disregards his orders and goes against the system. While being pursued by Matt and the cartel, Alejandro and Isabel intend to cross the US border illegally with the assistance of human traffickers. However, they get caught by the cartel after being recognized by a young coyote, Miguel. As they watch in shock, Alejandro is shot dead by the cartel's ranking members, and the cartel makes their escape. Matt and his team pursue them and eliminate the cartel as instructed. Despite his orders to kill Isabel, Matt chooses to place her under witness protection instead. Meanwhile, Alejandro awakens to realize that Miguel shot him through the cheek out of compassion. A year later, Miguel, now a full-fledged member of the cartel, encounters Alejandro, who poses a singular rhetorical question to him, "So you want to be a sicario?"

Sicario Day Of The Soldado ending explained

Throughout the movie Sicario, Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) constantly questions the ethics and morality of the government task force, especially in light of Alejandro (Benicio del Toro) and Graver's (Josh Brolin) unscrupulous approach to achieving their goals. Despite Macer lying that their investigation was carried out legally, their actions fail to bring an end to the cartel's violence as new people take over Fausto's (Julio Cedillo) place. Sicario: Day of Soldado is the sequel to the 2015 movie. At the end of the sequel, Alejandro is believed to have died after being shot by a young gang member, Miguel (Elijah Rodriguez). However, a year later, it is revealed that Alejandro is alive, albeit with a gaping hole in his cheek from the bullet wound. Seeking out Miguel, who had managed to escape the carnage but was left alone by his group, Alejandro asks him if he wants to become a hitman and decides to train the young man, leading to a change of heart from his former ruthless ways.
