Sims 4
Maxis, in collaboration with Electronic Arts, developed The Sims 4, a social simulation game that is the fourth major installment in The Sims series and follows The Sims 3 (2009). The game was initially launched in North America on September 2, 2014, for Windows, followed by an OS X version in February 2015. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions were released in November 2017. Since its release, the game has been supported by various paid downloadable content packs, and on October 18, 2022, it was transitioned to a free-to-play model.
The Sims 4 offers players the opportunity to create and customize characters known as "Sims," construct homes for them, and simulate their daily lives, much like previous games in the series. The game employs a new custom game engine that introduces improved character creation and house-building tools, as well as more in-depth in-game simulation thanks to new emotion and personality systems for Sims.
The Sims 4 was being developed as an online multiplayer game, but following the negative reception of Maxis' SimCity in 2013, the plans were changed to focus on a single-player experience. In the lead-up to the game's release, Maxis announced that several features that had been present in previous The Sims games would not be included in the launch version of the game due to insufficient development time and technical complexity, which was met with criticism from players. While The Sims 4 was praised for its improved AI simulation for Sims, simplified building tools, and visual design, it received mixed reviews from critics upon its initial release due to its lack of content compared to previous The Sims titles, frequent loading screens, and missing features.
Despite this, The Sims 4 has been commercially successful and has garnered 36 million players globally as of 2021. To support the game's development, several paid downloadable content packs have been released, including thirteen expansion packs, twelve game packs, and several stuff packs and kits. The latest expansion pack, The Sims 4: Growing Together, was released on March 16, 2023. Free content updates that introduce and expand major features have also been released, such as swimming pools, additional character customization options, more building tools, and gameplay scenarios.

New ways to decorate
Hi everyone, SimGuruBeth here! I'm very excited about today's update, especially the new decor placement options you'll find across various bathroom fixtures. It was so fun to work with the team and add new small decorative slots to toilets, standalone sinks, bathtubs and more! And in some cases there was room to support a medium decorative slot. These build mode quality of life updates are one of my favorite things to work on as an object modeler; they add so many more options for designing any build.
And in addition to the above updates, a few new color variants have been added to round out some of our basics for the Towel Storage Rack (full and empty version) and the Countryside Caress Medicine Cabinet.

Sims 4 Gameplay
The Sims 4 is a social simulation game that follows in the footsteps of its predecessors. Unlike traditional games with objectives and goals, players are encouraged to engage in an interactive environment by making choices that affect the lives of virtual people called "Sims." As the player, you are responsible for directing the actions of these Sims, attending to their needs, and helping them attain their desires.
The game uses Simoleons as its currency, and Sims communicate in a fictional language called Simlish. A Sim's six needs, hunger, bladder, hygiene, social, fun, and energy, are drained as they progress through an in-game day, but can be refilled using various household items and furniture. Sims primarily earn money by getting a job or selling crafted items, such as paintings or garden produce. To succeed in their careers, Sims need to develop skills, such as Cooking skill for Sims in the Culinary career track.
The Sims 4 includes a comprehensive list of cheats that provide infinite money and unlock hidden gameplay options. Paid downloadable content (DLC) packs expand the game's features, objects, worlds, and gameplay options. Additionally, the OS X and Windows versions of the game offer extensive modding support, with two types of player-developed mod content: script mods and custom content. Script mods modify gameplay behavior or add mechanics, while custom content includes cosmetic items like custom hairstyles, makeup, clothing, and furniture.
The Sims 4 is a life simulation video game where players can create Sims and build homes and communities. The Create-a-Sim mode allows players to adjust Sims' facial and bodily features and create personalities using traits and aspirations. The game features various expansion packs and game packs that include occult Sims like vampires, mermaids, spellcasters, and werewolves. The game also includes gender and skin tone options, as well as a preferred pronoun and sexuality options. In the Build mode, players can construct and furnish homes using tools for resizing, moving, and duplicating entire rooms and buildings. The game includes various worlds, each with several neighborhoods and residential or community lots available for players to customize and build upon.
