Snapchat is a mobile app available for both Android and iOS devices. Users of the app commonly refer to it as Snap.
Meanwhile, Snapchat's developer is a publicly traded company called Snap. The company claims to be a camera manufacturer. Snap, whatever you want to call it, is led by co-founder Evan Spiegel.
One of the key concepts of the mobile app is that any picture, video, or message - aka snap - you send by default is only available to the recipient for a short period of time before becoming inaccessible. The app's temporary or ephemeral nature was intended to encourage a more natural flow of interaction.

Users had mixed feelings about Snapchat's latest update in 2023, which changed the notification text from ‘sent a snap’ to ‘sent you a snap’, with the sender's name still displayed at the beginning.
The only difference is that it now includes the word "you," which has made a big difference for some users, who have spoken about feeling "special" when certain snaps address you personally.
The app has yet to announce its 2023 update, but many users have already received access to the new feature. It's unclear whether the latest option will be accompanied by additional updates.
Why Does Snapchat Say Sent You A Snap?
As previously stated, no significant changes are made to the 'sent a snap' notification in 2023, with the exception of changing it to 'sent you a snap'.
When a snap is sent to a group of people, the steps to send and receive it remain the same, but the notification may read differently.
If you haven't received the update, make sure you've downloaded the most recent version of the app. The platform's creators have not stated whether the update is available to users in all regions or if it is restricted to a specific audience.

When you update the app to the latest version, you'll be notified whenever one of your contacts sends you a snap. Some users are ecstatic that the latest notification is addressed specifically to "you," while others believe the changes make little difference to them.
One said: “Snapchats update from “sent a snap” to “sent you a snap” makes me feel so special.”
However, another user feels: “Snapchat adding the “you” in “____ sent you a snap” was the worst update.”
“Why did Snapchat have to change it to “____ sent YOU a snap?”, a third user noted.
Another wrote: “Snap adding the “sent YOU a snap” and “sent a snap” is interesting.”
Snapchat Games Are Disappearing
A large number of Snapchat users are extremely disappointed that the games have been removed from the platform. Since the beginning of February, Twitter is filled with posts that see people asking what happened to their favourite games on the networking site as they are suddenly "gone". Snapchat hinted at discontinuing its gaming business entirely or partially in 2022. The removal of games as part of the company's restructuring has not been officially announced.
When users contacted Snapchat Support for an explanation, the company responded:
“Hi there. We’re always working to improve the Snapchat experience on both platforms, so some features may change over time. In the meantime, we’ll share the feedback you provided with our team.”
Snapchat Sent You A Snap Update 2023-FAQs
The 'sent' status means you have sent a Snap or chat to someone and the Snapchat server acknowledges it. Received means the Snap or chat has been delivered to the recipient. Delivered means Snapchat has verified the delivery of the Snap to the recipient. You should then see the opened icon at some point.
Although it looks like the contact has received a new Snap (despite the sending never dispatching one), it's just a display glitch. In reality, the “recipient” has not received anything and everyone is safe from embarrassment. Hopefully, a Snapchat app update will address the issue soon and prevent any more worry.
There's no button that you can press that can reveal this to you. The only way you would be able to tell is by making a judgement based on what it says on the snap. If it says streaks, it should be pretty obvious that it was sent to multiple people, but if it has a personal message, it was probably sent only to you.
Snapchat servers are designed to automatically delete unopened Snaps sent to a Group Chat after 24 hours.
