Prepare for the ultimate showdown with Doctor Robotnik, marking our fifth encounter in Sonic Superstars. The Sand Sanctuary Stage holds this challenging battle, and defeating Robotnik won't be a walk in the park. Brace yourself for a five-phased clash, each demanding a unique strategy to triumph.
Phase One
Launching Platforms
In the first part, Robotnik tosses Stone Platforms at you. To dodge them, move out of their path – you can see where they'll land by looking at their shadow. For the initial Stone Platforms, just go to the far left side of the area to stay safe.
Sand Creatures
Right after the Stone Platforms land, Robotnik sends two enemies under the sand. They'll soon pop up where you are. One is a Drill Mole, the other a Blue Mole. The plan here is to jump under the Blue Mole when it comes up, hitting it while it's in the air. This will send it back to Robotnik and damage him a lot. You don't have to do this right away; you can wait until later if things are too busy.
Attack!
After those sand-dwelling enemies, Robotnik digs underground and comes up from under the sand where you are. The Stone Platforms will shake where he's going to appear, which, in this case, is the far left side. Go to the right side of the area and wait for Robotnik to pop up. When he does, jumps on top of his machine to deal even more damage to him. This will make him move to the next phase!
Phase Two
Launching Platforms
In the second part, Robotnik continues to throw Stone Tablets at you, but they follow a different path this time. To stay safe, move to the right side of the stage and avoid the tablets coming your way.
Sand Creatures
Next, he'll send two more enemies up from under the sand toward you. You handle them the same way as before. You can hit the Blue Mole from below and send it back at Robotnik for extra damage, but you don't have to do this just yet.
Attack!
After that, Robotnik will go underground again and pop up on the far right side of the area. Go to the left side, wait for him to come up, then run and jump on top of his machine to hurt him. This will move him to the third phase!
Phase Three
Launching Platforms
In the third phase, the sequence is the same as before, but there are some changes in how the Stone Platforms, sand enemies, and where Robotnik appears work. But just like before, he starts by attacking with Stone Platforms. To avoid getting hurt, run to the left side of the area!
Sand Creatures
After that, even more enemies will pop out of the sand and head your way. This time, there will be three of them instead of two. The Blue Mole will come out of the ground just above where there's a missing tile on the right. So, stand close to that tile if you want to hit it back!
Attack!
Stay on the right side of the area and wait for Robotnik to come up from under the ground. You'll need to quickly move through the sand and then jump on top of his machine to hurt him, so don't waste too much time here!
Phase Four
Launching Platforms
In the fourth phase, things start to change a bit, but it still follows the same sequences as before. However, the Stone Platform part is a bit more complicated. For this round of Stone Platforms, stand on the one remaining on the far right side and wait for Robotnik to start launching the others at you. As soon as the first one lands, quickly jump on top of it and stay there until the others fall. This way, you won't get hurt!
Sand Creatures
Next, Robotnik sends enemies crawling through the sand towards you, just like last time. There will be three enemies again, two of them being Drill Moles and the third a Blue Mole. The Blue Mole will come out of the open sand pit on the right, so stay around that area if you want to hit it back at him for extra damage!
Attack!
After that, Robotnik comes out from the left side of the area. This means you need to jump in place on the right side to avoid sinking into the sand and dying. When he shows up, jump through the sand towards him and hop on top of his machine to hurt him!
Phase Five
Launching Platforms
In the fifth and final phase, things follow a similar pattern as before, but there's one big difference we'll get to later. Let's first talk about how to deal with these Stone Platforms.
When Robotnik starts throwing Stone Platforms at you, there will be only sand where you are. So, you need to jump in place until one of those platforms lands to avoid sinking. As soon as the first Stone Platform lands, hop onto it, then keep jumping from platform to platform to dodge the incoming platforms until it's over!
Sand Creatures
After that, as you might guess, Robotnik sends enemies from under the sand towards you. This time, though, there will be four enemies. Two Drill Moles and two Blue Moles.The two Blue Moles will be on the Stone Platforms on the far left, so hang out in that area to hit them back at Robotnik and deal a lot of damage!
Return To Sender!
The big difference in this phase compared to the others is that Robotnik won't come out of the sand, so you can't jump onto his machine. The only way you can hurt him this time is by using the Blue Moles.
This is really important to know because you'll keep going through Stone Platforms, Sand Enemies, Fake Out, and repeating that until you hit enough Blue Moles back to defeat him (usually about two).
Fake Out
'Fake Out' is what we call Robotnik's sneaky move where he suddenly comes up through the sand where you are, instead of popping out of it. This allows you to jump on top of his machine for free damage. Since this replaces the old way, you need to use the Blue Moles to finish him off!
