Best Backgrounds in Starfield

There are 21 different Backgrounds to pick from when creating your character in Starfield. You can choose one based on the skills and style of play you like. The best backgrounds we recommend are [File Not Found], Diplomat, and Cyber Runner.

When you pick a background, your character gets three starting skills at level 1. You can make them better as you level up using skill points.

Let's talk about our recommended backgrounds:

1. [File Not Found]

This is the best background if you want your character to have a mysterious past. Unlike other backgrounds that NPCs know about, this one keeps your past a secret. Only your character knows about it.

Starting skills for [File Not Found]:

  1. Wellness: Increases your health.
  2. Ballistics: Makes your guns more powerful.
  3. Piloting: Helps you use Space Thrusters.

2. Diplomat

If you want to be good at talking with NPCs and getting better deals when buying and selling items, Diplomat is the way to go.

Starting skills for Diplomat:

  1. Wellness: Increases your health.
  2. Persuasion: Makes it easier to convince others.
  3. Commerce: Lets you buy things for less and sell them for more.

3. Cyber Runner

For players who like to sneak around and steal, Cyber Runner is the best choice. You can start with skills for sneaking, stealing, and hacking.

Starting skills for Cyber Runner:

  1. Stealth: Makes it easier to hide and do sneak attacks.
  2. Theft: Lets you pickpocket people.
  3. Security: Helps you hack locks and bank security.

If none of these backgrounds fit your style, don't worry. You can always try a different one.

Best Traits in Starfield

Let's talk about the best traits in Starfield. But remember, you don't have to choose any traits if you don't want to. You can play without them or pick just one or two. It's up to you.

Now, here are some traits that can really help you in the game:

Extrovert

If you like having a companion in Starfield, this trait is great. Companions help in battles and carry extra stuff for you. With Extrovert, you use less oxygen when you're with a companion, so you can run, jump, and explore without worrying about running out of breath.

Hero Worshipped

This trait brings back a familiar character from another game. The Adoring Fan in Starfield is very helpful. He's strong and can carry lots of items for you. Plus, he's always there to help you out on missions.

Wanted

This trait is interesting. Sometimes, mercenaries come after you because there's a bounty on your head. But the good part is, you do more damage when your health is low. It can be really useful in tough fights.

Raised Enlightened or Raised Universal

These traits show that your character grew up in one of two major religions in Starfield. It changes your dialogue choices, but the best part is that you get a chest of goodies from the religion's building. Free stuff is always nice, right?

All Three Faction Traits

There are three faction traits that show where your character grew up. Each one gives you different dialogue options and can boost rewards for certain faction missions. But you can only pick one, and the other factions might get upset with you. So, choose the faction you like the most and enjoy the extra options and rewards for their quests.

Is The Dream Home Trait Worth it?

Whether the Dream Home trait is worth it depends on how you want to play the game. It's all about what you want to do in the game. If you like living comfortably in space, doing things like crafting, cooking, and enjoying the space life, then the Dream Home trait is a good choice, even with the debt you have to deal with.

But if you prefer going on adventures and don't want to owe money to a space bank, you might want to skip this trait. You don't need it to get a home, and you'll have different options soon. Plus, if you like adventuring a lot, you'll probably set up outposts as you explore space, and the Dream Home might not be as useful to you.

How Starfield's Dream Home Trait Works?

After you've spent some time creating your character, you'll need to choose some traits that define who you are in the game. The Dream Home trait gives you access to one of the best houses in the game, but it comes with a catch.

You'll start with a big debt of 125,000 credits owed to GalBank, a space bank in Starfield. To fully own and use the house, you'll have to pay off this debt. Think of GalBank as a space version of a character called Tom Nook, who wants all his money upfront. But earning 125,000 credits, especially in the early game, is quite challenging.

Alternatively, you can pay 500 credits every week to use the house before paying off the debt. However, it's important to know that these weekly payments won't reduce the total debt you owe. The good news is that, unlike a real mortgage, GalBank won't kick you out of the house if you can't pay. You just won't be able to get inside without paying the weekly fee.

So, if you're okay with paying 500 credits each week, you don't have to rush to pay off the debt right away, or even pay it off at all. As you progress in the game, you'll find valuable items to sell, and that should easily cover the weekly fee and eventually pay off the mortgage.

Starfield Overview

Starfield is a video game made by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. They talked about it first in 2018 at a big gaming event. This game happens in space, and it's the first brand-new game idea that Bethesda has made in a very long time, like 29 years! It's coming out for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on September 6, 2023.

People who play games and write about them like Starfield. They said good things about how you can do lots of different things in the game, like fighting and exploring in space. They also liked how it looks, sounds, and how well it runs on the computer. But not everyone loved the story and exploring parts of the game.

Starfield Gameplay

Starfield is a video game where you can play from either a first-person or third-person perspective. It's set in an open world, which means you can explore a big area in space called the Milky Way galaxy. This space has planets, moons, and space stations, both real and made-up ones. You can land on over 1,000 planets and lots of moons and space stations.

Most of the landscapes in the game are made by a computer program, but game designers also added special things to make them more interesting. The game decides how a planet looks, like what kind of plants and animals are there, based on its star and atmosphere. It also puts interesting stuff on the planets as you get closer to them.

The biggest city in the game is called New Atlantis, and it's the biggest made-up city that Bethesda, the game company, has ever made.

As you play, you'll meet different characters who aren't controlled by real players (NPCs). Some of them might join your team. These characters can help you in fights, carry things for you, or talk to other characters in the game for you. Some of them might even have things to say about the choices you make.

You can send your team members to the outposts that you build in the game. Each team member has their own special skills and abilities. And, if you want, you can have a romantic relationship with some of the NPCs in the game.
