Starfield Mantis Puzzle Solution and Quest Walkthrough
Starting the Mantis Mission:
To initiate the Mantis mission, you must locate a note titled 'Secret Outpost!' Typically, this note can be found on a deceased Spacer. In one instance, it was discovered next to the Nova Galactic Staryard near Earth, during the task of finding Vanguard Moara as part of 'The Old Neighborhood' mission. This note, once read, will set your objective to go to Denebola I-b.
Finding the Secret Outpost:
Denebola I-b is situated in the Denebola system. If you're undertaking this quest early on, you might not have visited this system yet. To get there, you'll need to grav jump from Alpha Centauri to Olympus, then to Volii, followed by Porrima, and finally to Denebola. Along the way, you may pick up several other mission starters that can be completed later.
Landing at the Secret Outpost:
Upon landing at the Secret Outpost, you'll immediately encounter hostile Spacers. As you proceed to the objective marker, you'll face more adversaries. Despite the varying levels (ranging from 8 to 30), they shouldn't pose too much of a challenge. Be prepared to use grenades strategically.
Lair of the Mantis:
Within the Lair of the Mantis, you'll encounter more Spacers in the same level range. Some of them will carry audio logs that advance the quest and provide insights into Doriane Voclain, the individual behind the Mantis persona.
Mantis's Motive:
Through audio logs and intercoms, you'll learn that the Mantis is essentially a superhero vigilante and has designed the Lair as a test for Leon, her potential successor.
Exploration and Loot:
While the path in the Lair is relatively linear, keep an eye out for locked safes and crates with valuable loot, often at the Expert level. Before reaching the Mantis puzzle, you'll encounter Livvey, who can provide clues about the puzzle in exchange for a share of the prize.
Mantis Puzzle:
The Mantis puzzle tasks you with walking across floor panels to spell TYRANNIS. Once solved, you'll progress through winding corridors, encountering mechanical foes such as hostile turrets and robots at level 20. Dispatch them with your ammunition.
Mantis Rewards:
Exiting into a vast cavern, you'll find two quest markers. One leads to acquiring the Mantis' Spacesuit, which can be particularly beneficial if you've completed the quest early. The suit offers random perks across the helmet, spacesuit, and pack, alongside impressive physical resistance.
Acquiring the Razorleaf Ship:
The other quest marker activates a landing pad. Afterward, exit the Lair of the Mantis to find the Razorleaf ship waiting for you. The Razorleaf is a remarkable Class-A ship equipped with a Shielded Cargo Hold, ideal for storing Starfield contraband
