Steamworld Build Items and Trading Guide

Welcome to the world of SteamWorld Build! If you're looking to navigate the ins and outs of trading and acquiring items, you're in the right place. Here's your easy-to-follow guide:

Getting Started: Repairing the Train Station

To kick off your trading adventures, ensure you've repaired the Train Station. Achieve this by gathering 120 Workers and crafting 4 Boards from a Forester and Lumber Mill. Once that's sorted, the train will pull in every five minutes, opening up a world of possibilities. Click on the Train Station to explore its functions.

Initiating Trades: A Bit of Strategy

Trading items is a breeze. Head to the Train Station, click on the plus (+) sign in the Ongoing Trades tab, and set up your deals. Keep in mind, trades don't happen instantly but align with the arrival of the next train.

Quick tip: Save your hard-earned cash for construction projects. Instead, engage in a bit of "bartering." Swap surplus goods for other materials. For example, trade 25 Sand, five Scrap, or two Ironium for a valuable Board. Rarity pays off too; you might score two Boards for one sought-after Robo Burger.

Remember, it's smarter to trade excess goods rather than splurge your cash.

The Shopping Spree: Train Station Item List

When it's time to splurge, head to the Train Station's item shop. The inventory refreshes every five minutes with items available for purchase using both Money and Rubies. Here's what you can get:

  • Resources: Gold (boost your Gold stash), Rubies (accumulate more Rubies)
  • Warehouse Upgrades: Increase simultaneous deliveries with Warehouse Deliveries
  • Service Items: Enhance service-related bonuses with Service Income and gain additional citizens with Service Inhabitants
  • Production Boosters: Amp up production with Production Chance and Production Speed
  • Miner Equipment: Equip your miners with Gold Scavenging, Digging Bonus, Debris Bonus, and Bonus Miners
  • Prospector Equipment: Gear up your prospectors with Tools Scavenging, Prospector Speed, and Bonus Prospectors
  • Mechanic Equipment: Enhance your mechanics with Sheet Metal Scavenging, Machine Reparation Bonus, and Bonus Mechanics
  • Guard Equipment: Arm your guards with Flamethrowers, Shovel and Shield, Revolvers, Rifles, and Bonus Guards

Equipping for Success: Making the Most of Your Items

To put your new goodies to use, select a building and hit Edit. Choose the item that provides the desired buff. Keep in mind that different items work for different buildings, so match them wisely. For example, boost production in a Moonshiner or Lumber Mill with a Production Chance item.

Wrapping Up: Happy Building!

That concludes your crash course on trading and buying items in SteamWorld Build! If you're just starting out, consider exploring guides on citizen satisfaction, Workshop Extractors, and mine progression. Now go out there and build your SteamWorld empire!

SteamWorld Build Gameplay

In SteamWorld Build, it's like playing two games in one! First off, you're in charge of creating and running a town on a strange alien planet. You'll build roads, set up important stuff like water and electricity, and make homes for the people living there. It's important to keep everyone happy by meeting their needs. As you keep going, you'll unlock new stuff and make your town better by getting cooler technologies and improving your workers. The town's success is measured by hitting certain goals based on how many folks live there.

But wait, there's more! Once you've gathered enough materials to fix up your mining shaft, the second part of the game kicks in. You'll need to set up a proper working mine and hire miners to explore an old abandoned one. Their mission? Find some ancient tech that could help you get off this planet! While they're at it, they'll collect valuable ores and resources that can help grow your town even more. Oh, and there are monsters in that old mine, so your miners better be ready with weapons. As your town gets bigger, more engineers will come, letting you hire more miners and make your mining operations even better!

SteamWorld Build Development

SteamWorld Build is in the works with a team of 40 folks over at The Station, which is under Thunderful Development. The big boss overseeing everything is Brjánn Sigurgeirsson, the franchise director. This game marks the first in the SteamWorld series not created by the original Swedish team. Before this project, The Station worked on art and stuff for the LittleBigPlanet games. They started building this game back in early 2020. The developers said it's like the Anno series from Ubisoft and Dungeon Keeper from Bullfrog Productions. But they're making sure both parts of the game - building and exploring dungeons - work together smoothly. The game's story happens at the same time as SteamWorld Dig 2 and brings back old friends while introducing new characters.

Thunderful Development had big plans for the SteamWorld series. They mentioned four games in the pipeline, and one of them was this city-building game codenamed "Coffee". The official announcement for SteamWorld Build came in January 2023 during Thunderful's "SteamWorld Telegraph" show. They even dropped a free demo the same day! Excitement's brewing as SteamWorld Build gears up for release on December 1, 2023, hitting platforms like Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
