Is the Movie Swarm Based on a True Story?

Drawing inspiration from real events, the show is described by Glover as a unique blend of "The Piano Teacher" and "The King of Comedy." At the heart of the story is Cassie, a young woman whose life revolves around her intense passion for the pop star Soleil.

Cassie spends her days delving into the depths of Soleil's lyrics, deciphering hidden meanings, and immersing herself in the vibrant world of Soleil's fandom. Cassie's fervor finds resonance among countless other devoted fans who share her unwavering dedication. However, as the series unfolds, Cassie's infatuation takes a dark turn. Her mental state gradually deteriorates, leading her to lash out at anyone who impedes her love for Soleil.

This includes individuals who critique the pop star or simply fail to exhibit the same level of devotion. Glover astutely comments on the pervasive phenomenon of celebrity obsession and the extreme fervency displayed by some fans. He reflects on how fans often exhibit aggressive and defensive behavior on social media platforms, pondering the potential real-world consequences if such intense emotions were unleashed offline.
