The main themes of the film thus far have been that Curtis' nightmares have started to describe the storms and torrential rains, reality does experience a storm but it isn't as severe as the ones in his dreams, Curtis' mother was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia when she was his age, Curtis initially battles his situation alone, the psychiatrist has confirmed that he needs to get treated, and Samantha supports him by coming up with a plan to pay for the shelter and the treatment, according to reports from This Is Barry.
The third possibility is that the final scene is a fabrication. For Curtis and his family, the storm's final scene is a nightmare in which they are unable to repay a loan for a storm shelter because of their financial situation. As his wife and child can experience the storm just like he can, this dream is not violent. He can picture Samantha viewing the storm and realizing what Curtis is going through, so he knows he is not alone. He also senses his family's support in helping him combat the disease. This perspective gives the film more weight than a Shyamalan-esque conclusion.
