The Lingering Movie Ending Explained
After receiving the news of his mother's passing, Xinzhong (played by Louis Cheung) decides to return to his hometown. As he deals with the matters surrounding her death, an unexpected encounter with a real estate agent takes place. This agent urges Xinzhong to sell his late mother's mansion, which prompts Xinzhong to search for the property certificate necessary for the sale.
However, during his search, he begins to experience a series of inexplicable events. The occurrences raise the question of are these incidents are mere coincidences or if Xinzhong's mother, Qingyi, trying to communicate with him from beyond the grave.
The Lingering Plot
On the night of New Year's Eve, Qingyi (portrayed by Athena Chu) and her son, Dawa, eagerly awaited the return of Qingyi's husband from work. However, to their dismay, he never arrived. As time passed, Dawa started to notice the presence of a mysterious stranger who remained invisible to Qingyi.
Concerned for her husband's safety, Qingyi decided to entrust Dawa's care to their neighbor and embarked on a journey to the nearby village in search of her husband's whereabouts. Upon returning home, Qingyi was startled to discover an unfamiliar individual hiding within her house.
