Training Day Ending Explained

The original ending of the film had Alonzo dying offscreen, which Denzel Washington, the actor who portrayed him, found inadequate considering the character's numerous crimes. Washington advocated for a different ending, where Alonzo is gruesomely killed by machine gun fire.
