Ugliest Dog In Britain

These seven dogs have been named the Ugliest Dogs in the United Kingdom, in stark contrast to the Dog Photography Awards, which showcased adorable canines.

Even though it makes us feel cruel to say it, at least ugly dogs get to have their day. Marnie, a French Bulldog from Wiltshire (above, right), and Winston, a British Bulldog from the West Midlands (below), who his owner describes as "a cross between a grumpy old man and a naughty school kid," are both on the list of the seven ugliest dogs.

The canine judged to be the most "aesthetically challenged" will receive a makeover and a photoshoot to celebrate their less-than-stellar appearance. Seven dogs, including bulldogs and pugs, have advanced to the final competition held by Parrot Print, a personalized photo-to-canvas printer. The finalists, according to Matt Dahan, founder of ParrotPrint.com, "were the ones who made our eyes hurt when we looked at them."

Mr. Dahan said: "We look forward to selecting the winner and sharing their photoshoot experience with the world when we hope to show that every dog is beautiful, no matter how ugly they might first appear."

Peggy Ugliest Dog

Peggy has a face that only a mother could adore. Fortunately for Peggy, who was adopted at the age of six months, her parents think she's lovely. The four-year-old Pug and Chinese Crested cross was "the last one left on the shelf" when owner Holly Middleton adopted her.

"We fell in love with her, but at first I just felt sorry for her," she told Hull Live.

Peggy, from Yorkshire, was named after Ms. Middleton's great-grandmother.

But despite entering Peggy into the ugly dog competition, Ms. Middleton thinks she is "adorable," and tells her she's beautiful "day in day out." "I think all the dogs in the contest are beautiful; if I could, I'd have every one of them," she said.

Ugliest Dog UK Competition Winner

Peggy, a three-year-old Pug Chinese Crested Mix from East Yorkshire, is possibly the ugliest dog on the list. This pup's barely-there fur and drooping tongue from the side of her mouth aren't enough to keep her from feeling regal. Not only does Peggy look like royalty in her pearl crown and matching necklace, but she's also appeared on the UK's breakfast magazine show, This Morning - so she's a real celebrity in the making.

Only one of these pups will be crowned the UK's ugliest dog and receive a doggy makeover and photoshoot. The judges must now decide which is the most hideous, with the winner announced in February.
