Uncut Gems is a film directed by Benny and Josh Safdie that follows the story of Howard Ratner, a jeweler from New York's Diamond District. The film is a gripping and stressful experience that finally comes to an end in a relief-inducing manner.

His latest venture involves a rare black opal from Ethiopia that is delivered to him at the start of the movie.
Howard has two children with his ex-wife Dinah and is also in a relationship with one of his employees, Julia. One day, Kevin Garnett, a basketball player, visits Howard's office and becomes fascinated with the black opal. Garnett asks to borrow the gemstone for an NBA game. Howard reluctantly agrees, but he keeps Garnett's championship ring as collateral.
Howard pawns Garnett's ring to place a bet on the basketball game. However, Arno intervenes and stops the bet. Howard discovers the person who brought Garnett to his office and goes to a party where he finds that Garnett still has the opal. He also discovers Julia using drugs with The Weeknd and gets into a fight with the artist.
Fortunately, Garnett returns the opal before Howard places it in an auction. Howard then discovers that the opal is worth much less than he originally thought. He convinces his father-in-law to bet on the opal to increase its selling price. Unfortunately, his father-in-law ends up having to buy the opal as nobody else bids, including Garnett.
Shortly after this, Arno and his thugs attack Howard, demanding their money. Howard finds himself in a difficult situation and must come up with a solution to pay back his debt.
In summary, the film follows Howard's journey as he takes risks to increase his wealth and deals with the consequences of his actions. The black opal serves as a catalyst for many of the events that occur in the movie, leading to both fortunate and unfortunate outcomes for Howard.
