According to the franchise, the star English pacer had sustained a fractured toe and adductor strain, which led to his abrupt exit. RCB praised Willey's brilliant performance throughout the tournament and extended their support for his rest and recovery.

The pacer had contributed significantly to the team's performance, taking three crucial wickets in the four games he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023.

RCB has announced the replacement of David Willey with veteran Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav for the remaining matches of IPL 2023.
