George Magoha was a well-known Kenyan consultant surgeon and academic administrator and technocrat. He served as a professor of surgery at Maseno University School of Medicine.
Prof. George Magoha died at the age of 71. In a subsequent statement to newsrooms, Nairobi Hospital CEO James Nyamongi said, “Professor Magoha collapsed at home and was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital A&E. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.”

George Magoha reportedly died after a short illness at the Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday evening. On March 26, 2019, George Magoha was sworn into office at the helm of the Education Ministry and served till October 27, 2022, when William Ruto named his successor.
He recently joined Maseno University in the Department of School of Medicine as a professor.
Owen McOnyango, Maseno University Director of Public Relations, told Citizen Digital on January 17 that the appointment takes effect immediately.
