Noble recalled, "Immediately after it happened, I was attempting to keep everyone around me calm. "At that time, it was kind of a fight or flight situation." It was heartbreaking, according to her mother. "I still find it difficult to express."
How Did Makayla Get Injured?
Makayla remembered, "September 20th. The cheerleaders and football players performed a country dance together. We made the decision to teach the boys how to make this flip while we were practising the dance at a friend's house. That simply went wrong. Makayla recalls entering the flip and landing directly on her throat in the grass in the backyard. It was instantly apparent that there was a serious problem.
Makayla remarked, "As bizarre as it seems, I realised right away that I was paralysed. I experienced a sense of calmness throughout my entire body. I won't make an effort to stand up. I'm just going to lay here because I need to maintain my composure."
It turned out that what Makayla had initially sensed following the injury was accurate. She was paralysed in her lower body and had a severe spinal cord damage.
