In his personal life, Mitchell comes from a sporty family. His dad, Geoff Marsh, and his older brother, Shaun Marsh, both played for the Australian cricket team. He grew up in Perth, Western Australia, and went to Wesley College for his education.

Mitchell Marsh started playing One Day International (ODI) cricket on October 19, 2011, against South Africa. However, he has had ups and downs in his performance. He was part of the winning team in the 2015 World Cup and once took five wickets against England.
