The team was founded on January 30, 1960, and originally situated in Oakland, California. They debuted in the American Football League (AFL) as a charter member on September 11, 1960. In 1970, the Raiders transitioned to the NFL following the AFL–NFL merger. While being established, the team nearly adopted the nickname "Señors" and initially considered orange and black as their team theme colors, which were eventually changed. After playing in Los Angeles from the 1982 to 1994 seasons, the team returned to Oakland in 1995.

What Happened to Raiders Player?

Former Las Vegas Raiders player Henry Ruggs has indicated in court that he will admit to driving under the influence and at excessive speeds, leading to a tragic accident in 2021 that resulted in the death of a woman. As part of a plea deal, the 24-year-old former first-round NFL draft pick is expected to be sentenced to three to 10 years in state prison.

Ruggs decided to forgo a preliminary hearing and instead agreed to admit to the felony charge of driving under the influence causing death, as stated by his lawyers. Additionally, a six-month sentence for a guilty plea to misdemeanor manslaughter will be included in the overall punishment. During the court proceedings, Ruggs affirmed his understanding of the agreement when asked by Justice of the Peace Harmony Letizia.

The plea was scheduled for May 10, and the Clark County District Attorney's office has expressed support for the deal, according to prosecutor Eric Bauman. Ruggs' attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, issued a statement to reporters, stating that they view this as a significant step toward a fair resolution and hope for closure for everyone involved.

They, along with Ruggs and their accompanying parties, declined further comment in the court hallway. Despite efforts from Ruggs' legal team, the court denied their request to prevent the presentation of evidence regarding Ruggs' blood-alcohol level, which was measured at 0.16%—twice the legal limit in Nevada—at the time of the early morning crash.

The accident occurred when Ruggs' 220 Chevrolet Corvette rear-ended Tina Tintor's Toyota RAV4. Tintor, a 23-year-old woman, and her pet dog, Max, tragically lost their lives in the collision. Investigators discovered that Ruggs' vehicle decelerated from 156 mph to 127 mph just seconds before the impact, despite the posted speed limit in the area being 45 mph.
