He made his first-class debut in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy on 30 October 2015. He also made his Twenty20 debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2017–18 Zonal T20 League on 8 January 2018. What Happened to Rajat Patidar?

Rajat Patidar will miss IPL 2023 due to a heel injury, which he failed to recover from. The 2022 season was a breakout one for Patidar as he joined Royal Challengers Bangalore midway through the season and scored the fastest hundred by an Indian in the tournament's history. He finished the season as the third-highest run-scorer for the team, making 333 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 152.75.

However, his absence isn't the only concern for the team, as Josh Hazlewood is recovering from Achilles tendonitis and there are doubts over his participation. Additionally, Will Jacks has already been ruled out of the tournament, and Reece Topley suffered a shoulder injury during the first game and may miss future games. Despite these setbacks, Royal Challengers began the season with a convincing eight-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians and will face Kolkata Knight Riders in their next game.

Did Rajat Patidar have Surgery?

Rajat Patidar, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman, has confirmed that he underwent a successful surgery for his injury and is now on the path to recovery. Patidar shared a photo on his Twitter handle and thanked everyone for their prayers. RCB also expressed their happiness over the news and sent their best wishes to Patidar. The 29-year-old had scored 333 runs in eight innings for RCB last season, with an impressive average of 55.50.

Unfortunately, he was ruled out of IPL 2023 due to an Achilles heel injury and has been undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. RCB is currently fifth in the standings and will face Delhi Capitals in their next game as they try to solidify their playoffs qualification chances.

How is Rajat Patidar Doing Now?

In late March 2023, it was reported that Rajat Patidar had been advised to rest for three weeks following an injury he had picked up prior to joining the camp. ESPNcricinfo understood that he would need an MRI scan before the second half of the competition to determine his participation, and an NCA clearance before linking up with Royal Challengers.

Patidar's absence was expected to force Royal Challengers to rethink their batting combination. Before the injury, Mike Hesson, the franchise's director of cricket, had stated that Virat Kohli would continue to open the batting with Faf du Plessis, with Patidar in the middle order. However, with Patidar out, Kohli would have to slot back at three with one of Finn Allen or Anuj Rawat opening alongside du Plessis.

Rajat Patidar In RCB

In the IPL auction ahead of the 2021 season, Rajat Patidar was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, he didn't perform well, scoring only 71 runs in the four games he played and was subsequently released before the 2022 season. Patidar went unsold in the 2022 IPL Player Auction, but was later signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement for the injured Luvnith Sisodia mid-season for INR 20 Lakhs.

On 25 May 2022, in the Eliminator match of the 2022 Indian Premier League, Patidar played a remarkable knock of 112* (54) against Lucknow Super Giants. This was a record-breaking innings as he became the first uncapped player to score a century in the playoffs stage of the Indian Premier League. It was also the joint-fastest century (49 balls) by a player in the playoffs stage, equalling the record set by Wriddhiman Saha in 2014. Patidar ended the season with 333 runs in 8 matches, including a century and 2 half-centuries, at an average of 55.50. As a result of his phenomenal domestic season and his performances in the IPL, he was named in the One-Day International (ODI) squad for the series against South Africa in October.

Later in February 2023, Patidar was named in the ODI squad against New Zealand as an injury replacement for Shreyas Iyer, but he didn't make it to the playing eleven on both occasions and is yet to make his international debut. He was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the 2023 Indian Premier League. Patidar has an impressive average of 55.50 and a strike rate of 152.75, and he also played well in the Ranji Trophy.

Rajat Patidar IPL 2023 Price

Despite playing four games for RCB in the 2021 season, Rajat Patidar went unsold in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. However, when Luvnith Sisodia was injured, Patidar was signed as a replacement and he made the most of his second stint with the team. In just eight matches in IPL 2022, Patidar scored 333 runs at an impressive average of 55.5 and a strike rate of 152.75. He played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 112 against the Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator, which propelled RCB into Qualifier 2.

Despite his consistent performances in domestic cricket and being a part of the Indian ODI setup, Patidar is currently on a contract worth only ₹20 lakhs, which is much less than what a player of his caliber deserves. However, he is expected to play a vital role for RCB in the upcoming IPL 2023 season.
