William "The Duke" Wellington (Martin) was getting ready to depart London for a new position in Scotland in Miss Scarlet and The Duke Season 2 finale. This resulted in an intense sequence in the episode's last minutes where it appeared that Eliza, London's first (and only) female detective, was going to confess her emotions to her childhood buddy before he permanently left the city.
