Where is Ranked Play in MW2 Season 3?
When a new update is released for Call of Duty, including the latest update for Modern Warfare 2, players can expect to encounter confusion and bugs, regardless of the season. Season 3 has launched, and many players are encountering issues with ranked play, whether it's related to the ranks or even finding the mode itself.
In the previous season, when accessing the multiplayer menu for COD: MW2, the competitive playlist was always available to locate in either the featured or standard playlists. On April 12, 2023, Treyarch took to Twitter to announce that ranked play will be temporarily disabled until the transition issues between Season 02 and Season 3 are resolved.
An update was made at 2:26 p.m. ET on the same day. However, later on, at 7:52 p.m. ET on April 12, 2023, another update was posted to confirm that ranked play has been re-enabled and is functioning as usual. It appears that the removal of ranked play from the Modern Warfare 2 menus in the latest season was not a deliberate addition. The patch notes did not mention any reason for removing the mode, and some players have already begun a new grind. It is possible that we may have to wait for a hotfix to address the issue.
Is Ranked Play Down MW2 Season 3?
At the beginning of season three, the ranked play was unavailable simply because it had not yet been enabled. Treyarch promptly informed players that the launch of ranked play for season three has been postponed temporarily due to an issue with the season two-season three transition. The exact reason for the delay has not been disclosed, as the new season began at approximately 11 a.m. CT on April 12. However, it seems that we may have to wait for some time before ranked play is available again.
When is Ranked Coming to MW2 Season 3?
It is important to mention that with the beginning of Season 3 in Modern Warfare 2, all new ranked players will start at Bronze (tier 1) with 0 SR. On the other hand, players who have previously played the game mode in Season 2 will begin at tier 1 of the skill division, which is lower than their finishing position. However, this only applies to players ranked from bronze through crimson. To ensure a fair competitive environment, Ranked Play in Modern Warfare 2 automatically unlocks all unrestricted items, such as weapons and attachments, for players who have reached at least Level 16 to access the mode.

At the beginning of every new season in Modern Warfare 2, players will have their skill division reset. This means that your placement in the ranked play skill division will determine where you start at the beginning of each new season.

In order to access ranked play, players must reach a minimum level of 16. However, within this mode, all items, including weapons and attachments, will be automatically unlocked to ensure a level playing field for all players. Ranked Play in Modern Warfare 2 is the official 4v4 multiplayer competitive experience that follows the rules, restrictions, maps, and modes of the Call of Duty League. Any updates to the Call of Duty League rules will also be reflected in the rules of ranked play.
