Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is a simulation role-playing video game created by Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone. In the game, players assume the role of a character who inherits their late grandfather's rundown farm in Stardew Valley. Originally released for Windows in February 2016, it later became available on other platforms as well.
Stardew Valley offers an open-ended and immersive experience, giving players the freedom to engage in various activities such as farming, animal husbandry, fishing, cooking, mining, foraging, and building relationships with the townspeople, including the option to get married and have children. Moreover, the game supports online multiplayer, enabling up to four players to collaborate and explore the virtual world together.
Barone single-handedly developed Stardew Valley over an impressive span of four and a half years. Drawing inspiration from the Story of Seasons series, he made thoughtful additions to address some of the limitations present in those games.
Throughout the development process, Barone utilized the project as an opportunity to refine his programming and game design skills. Midway through the game's creation, British studio Chucklefish reached out to Barone with an offer to publish Stardew Valley, a partnership that allowed him to focus more intently on completing and perfecting the game.
