Game Freak and Nintendo released the highly anticipated role-playing video games, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, on November 18, 2022, for the Nintendo Switch. As the first games in the ninth generation of the Pokémon series, they feature a new open world gameplay format, in contrast to the previous titles in the franchise.
The games are set in the Paldea region, which draws inspiration from the Iberian Peninsula. Players have the option to pursue any of the three distinct storylines available to them. In addition to introducing 103 new Pokémon and two new regional forms, the games also feature time-displaced creatures known as Paradox Pokémon, as well as the Terastal phenomenon that enables certain Pokémon to transform into their exclusive "Tera Type." Similar to other modern Pokémon games, players can expect to encounter Pokémon in the overworld while exploring vast open areas.
While Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet received mixed reviews from critics, the open-world formula and storyline were highly praised. However, the game's graphics and technical issues at launch were noted as areas for improvement. Nevertheless, the games experienced record-breaking success, selling over 10 million copies within their first three days of release, which made them the biggest launch in Nintendo's history. By the end of 2022, they had sold over 20 million copies combined, ranking them as the fourth best-selling Pokémon games ever.
Where To Find Gastrodon In Pokemon Violet?
Shellos, a Water-type Pokémon, evolves into Gastrodon when it reaches level 30. Gastrodon gains the Ground-typing, making it a dual Water/Ground-type. Although it becomes immune to Electric-type moves, it also becomes four times more vulnerable to Grass-type moves.
Gastrodon is a Defensive Pokémon that is not meant to be used as an Attacker. It has access to Recover, a healing move, as well as Earth Power, a powerful Ground-type move. It can also learn Ice-type moves like Ice Beam through TMs. Gastrodon's speed is quite slow, but its Electric-type immunity makes it an excellent choice for battling Electric-type Pokémon that Water-types would otherwise struggle against.
Both West and East Sea Gastrodon can be caught in 4 Star Tera Raids at level 45. There is a slight chance of getting their Hidden Ability, Storm Drain. If a Gastrodon has Storm Drain, it becomes immune to Water-type moves and increases its Special Attack by one stage.
Wild West Sea Gastrodon can be caught in Casseroya Lake, while East Sea Gastrodon can be found in North Province (Area 1). It's important to note that there are no stat differences between West and East Sea Shellos and Gastrodon. They also have access to the same TMs. Therefore, Scarlet and Violet players should choose their preferred look/color when catching Shellos/Gastrodon.
